Hey CCMidwest, did my best to answer your questions :)

Walk - of course
Jog - yep, every day
Run 5k - I run 3 miles a day, roughly 7:30/mi pace.
Ride a bike - yes
Hike/Hunt/Fish - yes/no/no (I've never attempted the second two)
Sex - yes
Skydive - you couldn't pay me to jump out of a plane
Weight lift upper body - yep
Weight lift lower body - yes to squat, leg press, and deadlifts.
Horseback riding - probably?
Jeeping - i have no idea what this is
Swim - yes
Mountain climbing - I climb; I guess it depends on how intense you are
Half-marathons - wouldn't ever do this in the first place, so it's never been an issue
Heavy squats - I can do 185 for 6-8 reps. I don't go much higher
Heavy deadlifts - I can do sets of 8-10 at 225.

I guess the three things to note here are (1) I did 6.5cm on femurs, (2) I wasn't a world class athlete but did win collegiate championships, and (3) I still train everyday.

You have dispelled all my fears. I would be more than glad with this level of recovery.

Haha no offense taken. I would rather be kicked in the balls than do squats, cleans, or snatches. There's just some lifts I can't get into. The next time I have legs day, I'll squat a little more because of your comment.

So your aversion to heavy squats is just a personal preference, and doesn't have anything to do with concern that your modified legs couldn't handle the load?

Congrats! Easily the best recovery seen here if your numbers are accurate.

Same question as above - not going heavy because you're not interested, or worried about legs? And videos of the deadlift and squat?

2 questions for you...  Is the anything you can't do anymore that you were able to do pre-op? or has at least suffered a drastic decline in performance compared to before?

and... how come you are back in the forums after such a long absence?  I followed your diary with Betz on old forum.

Good question. I genuinely dislike squats, but will happily do hack squats and leg press instead. The other reason I've not really tried to go much heavier is that I haven't had my rods removed yet and won't go heavy until that hardware is out of my body ;)

What can't I do as well as before...another good question. I definitely don't cut as aggressively when playing football or soccer. I'm paranoid about getting taken out at the knee and tearing something. It hasn't affected breaking on balls when playing squash or tennis though. So agility may be one.

Second, I definitely can't do box jumps as high as I could before LL. This might be from lack of trying. I should add it into my routine and see how I can progress.

To the question about why I'm back after all this time...LL is on my mind bc I plan to travel to Germany later this year to get my rods out and wanted to read up on what's going on in the community. FWIW, this site seems to be the more active board.

Just kidding, never done a box jump in my life.

And I don't play football.

Are you still able to sit in front of a TV, get fat, and play Xbox? Its America's favorite past-time...

Hey, thanks for this post! I plan to do 6 cm or so on femurs and found this to be very informative. I've done a lot of thinking about LL and recovering my athleticism and realized that most of the things I like to do shouldn't be severely affected in the long term.

I'm approaching 30 but can still run a sub-5:30 mile to give you an idea of my current athletic state. But I'm already planning to quit distance running for the sake of my knees so that's a non-issue. Also don't care about lower body workouts since my quads are huge even though I always skip leg day. In fact, I'm doing femurs over tibs so my quads won't look so freakishly thick compared to the rest of my body!

Of my favorite physical activities:

Minimally Affected or Unaffected
Autocross/Track Day
Skiing
Swimming
Weight Lifting (upper body)
Hiking

Affected
Tennis
Biking
Climbing/Bouldering

I think I could live with reduced athleticism post-LL.
