Easier to do one leg at a time?
« on: April 11, 2016, 12:18:45 PM »

Is it not easier to do femur+tibia on one leg instead of tibia+tibia on both? When you go to bathroom, aand moving around generally? Or is it harder to recover since its lengthening on two segments in one leg?

Well the big disadvantage to doing one leg at a time is that even if you lower your lengthening goal on that leg because of pain or something, you absolutely have to do another surgery and lengthen the second leg no matter what. With both legs at a time you can stop early without consequence because both legs will be equal in length.

There is a reason why top doctors don't do this

And that is? Lengthening tibia+femur on a leg at a time can have its obvious complications...like the doctor needs to adjust the two segments of the other leg to match the first which can be tricky.
I think doing one leg at a time for whatever reason, tibia OR femur, can have its advantages especially on the recovery.
