Walking properly after surgery

How long did it take for you guys that did the surgery to walk properly?
I have been reading, and it does not look good. It seems its not worth the surgery.

It's a risk. Think about it. When you will make your mind be sure about your decision.

It will take a long time. 10-12 months post op most likely.

by post op do you mean the first surgery inserting rods?  Or the final surgery removing the rods?  Thanks

Walking normally takes a long time if you do 6cm or more on femurs. Femur LL really f*cks up your walking because you're going to have duckass/lordosis and super tight hip flexors, quads and hamstrings. All combine for a perfect storm or ridiculous and horribly embarrassing walking. My walking is 95% normal now (others say it's 100%, but I know it's a bit off still), and that last 5% is due to the left screw issue (getting fixed soon).

I've heard that from tibias, while they take longer to heal, you're generally walking fairly normally and not nearly as ugly (once you're given the green light to weight bear).
