Good article, TIBIKE, thx for the post.

"Men who are shorter than average appear to be at a disadvantage on the mating market: Their partners are more likely to be less healthy, have lower incomes and education, and have higher body mass index (BMI; Stulp, Mills, Pollet, & Barrett, 2014)."

So, you better have a big wad, or a big something else, if you ain't big... or, maybe just try to nail the short, fat, cross-eyed bird who possibly might be eyeing you up over the checkout counter??? Great. Peachy. Worst thing is... she probably thinks you are a bust, as well... F**k tall people

This was shown with people who are shorter than 5'6.. The most "suprising" finding in this study (and the others) is that there is almost no difference in mating success (Which I consider as amount and quality of the women) between average males and tall males.. Which means, dont do this in order to be tall but in order to be average...

This also confirms my idea that the 5'9+ people that consider to do this as insecure men and nothing more that will not really gain anything from LL

Quite dense, could you make a summary of the 3-4 main points important to us? I didn't understand much, maybe I'll have a look later.

However, great, now I can blame my (old) height of 5.4 for anything regarding girls haha

Basically, height isnt such a big factor once you are average height. Also, the short (but not too short men) didnt suffer so much from height based rejection. 5'4 (according to the study) is indeed a problematic height.

"Height and body mass are traits that may be useful cues about health, social status, and heritable fitness. These qualities are valued by women, suggesting that tall men would have more sex partners, whereas short men would have fewer. Surprisingly, however, taller men did not report substantially more sex partners than men other than very short men. This was surprising, given women’s clear preferences for relatively taller men in Western cultures. These findings raise interesting questions regarding the mating strategies of men with average to somewhat below average heights, and how well-stated preferences for height map on to actual sexual behavior."

This is the conclusion of survey. In other words, in this survey the stated preference that women want tall men did not actually show up in the data, and they can't understand why.

"Further, men between 5′7″ and 6′3″ (170–191 cm) varied little in whether they had more than 5 partners, had more than 14 partners, engaged in extra-pair sex, or were currently single."

Being 5'7.5 myself, I found this part interesting. 5'7 is a weird height...

I agree with that. Sounds weird, but just being average would sure be good enough for me... having said that, I think there is more of an issue than just getting sex which might just be an indirect marker for being taken seriously in general? Agree that if you are average, or tall already - why bother?

Do the women in here have a different perspective, I wonder?

I truly believe that adding height will help you overall with getting women, not because of the actual height gained (which of course is helping), but because of the highier self-confidence that will come automatically with it. All people who underwent LL and got to average or tall height (that I have spoken to) reported a huge boost to one's self image and confidence... I am sure that this is the main reason for the overall improvment in social-life and mating success.

Or in short, the better quality of life is not because of the added height but because of the permanent boost in self confidence (That I am not sure that will come in the same amount to average and above average people who do it).

Yeah, it's that potential that gets me. 5cm gets me to 5'9.5. With the boots I'm wearing right now, I would stand at 5'11 (they give me 1.5", I've measured to be sure)

Still not sure if LL would be worth it though. I've never really struggled in life being 5'7.5

Hey TIBIKE,

While you are correct, it's also a "rationalization rabbit hole" of sorts...ya know? I actually was sent here by my psychologist if you can believe it.

He told me that if I:

1. Improved all areas of my life, so that height was my only insecurity
2. Researched the LL surgery fully, including talking to those that have had it (I know you haven't yet done LL, but we are the same height so I appreciate your perspective)

He said then I would realize that I didn't need it, and that I can be happy at 5'7.5

I guess I'll find out!

(I'm a newbie, so I appreciate that you responded to me in this thread! Thanks!)

I did the same. I almost finished med school, lost weight and hit the gym and now I have a nice body, read alot of stuff about alot of stuff so people always have fun talking with me, I am usually the life of the party when it comes to social meetings.
I have had my fair share of women (to be more specific in my 25 years I have slept with 15 different women... The last one being a french girl I met last weekend in paris during vacation there.. She actually cheated on her BF with me...)

I am happy about every aspect of me... I like my character, I like my facial aesthetics and body, Career wise I am about to be a doctor... Only thing that I lack is average height... Once I hit that I will surely have other problems like any human being, but height (an unchangble one) won't be one of them...

I dont want to accept the things I dont like about myself... I want to improve them.

TIBIKE,

I feel ya man. I've only been with 6 women in my life, but I married young as well. 6th was my wife, and that was 11 years ago. I'm very social, people tell me I should of been a comedian or a teacher because I am so engaging. I am currently working on finishing up my education (nothing as awesome as being a doc though)

I own 2 companies and am a millionaire (not bragging, just saying where I am)

I'm pretty happy with my body, I've put on about 15lbs of muscle in 2 years, and am shooting for 10+ more.

Married to a beautiful 5'9 woman. (blond, big chest, thin...oh yeah)

Kids, dog, house, a Mercedes in the driveway.

Facial aesthetics I guess I am average. I've been called handsome a lot in my life, but I have tons of self-loathing so I tend not to believe them.

Again, not bragging with any of this. But even with all that, the height thing just kills me emotionally.

Indeed. This is what also motivates me to do it... It's because one thing can't cover the other. Being unhappy with yourself wont be cured by being happy with a relationship or being happy with your career... That's because life is not based on one aspect but many... And they dont interconnect.

Yeah, this weighs on me too. I'm 32 now (I said 31 in a different post, that was a typo) not getting any younger!

Lol at hinging your happiness on a woman!

I love my wife, and I love women in general, but you can't put anyone in charge of your happiness except yourself!

This study was done in 1993? It is my understanding that recently height became much more important than in recent years?

I couldn't see the part in the article where it's stated that the "quality" of women (whatever that is)  in mating success is the same for average men and taller men. Couldn't it be that being tall will really help in finding an attractive mate?

You are wrong. I'm 5'9, it's true I am insecure about my height, but I am considering LL for me. I have no trouble with dates/women/sex. For me it's more for my career in politics.

Could also work against...if people learn you did this you would be ridiculed extensively and not even have a chance at whatever it is you're striving for..

Ehh you never know. In this day and age nothing stays hidden for long. Those who've had political aspirations started out as young as possible in order to conceal anything they didn't want the public to know. Also if you end up fking up your legs and have noticeably bad gait, along with weird proportions people will start asking questions...

In the end it depends on where you are from. I've had ideas of going into politics, but I honestly hate the political atmosphere here in the U.S, and since I'm thinking about LL I know that it wouldn't have panned out.
