This is by far the most most detailed journey I've ever found about cosmetic limb lengthening using Illizarov (hybrid of stick and wires) method, more detailed than most of the diaries out here, and it is very recent:

http://www.healio.com/orthopedics/journals/ortho/2015-7-38-7/%7B31b4f71e-3854-4105-a24e-7d4ae33688c7%7D/safe-cosmetic-leg-lengthening-for-short-stature-long-term-outcomes

It provides all data of height, complications, procedures, with pictures and tables. Very infomative

Summary

Sample Size: 133
Height gain mean: 6.9
Duration in frame mean: 231 days
Outcomes are 1 good and others excellent. 24% of them undergone ATL. Complications are not uncommon but all treated.

What's weird is, that the time in frames was so short. On average the people spent only a little over a month for ever cm lengthened. Yet most people here on the forum needed almost twice as much time to get out of the frames. Needing only 4-5 months for 4cm's of lengthening sounds just too good to be true.

That timeframe is achievable, given that you don't move to much or do any sports right after.

Most doctors are conservative and will ask you to keep longer in frames
