5' 2 1/2 to 5'8 1/2... Is this realistic?
« on: February 12, 2014, 06:52:41 AM »

I made a post not too long ago about being able to afford LL and now I have another question that regards the realism of my height goal. My goal was to do 8cm on my femurs and then a few years or so down the line, do my tibias for 6.5 to 8cm. I was wondering if this goal was realistic. I know some people may consider 5'8 1/2 short, but for me, its a dream to be that tall.

i think it depends on your body, If the doc allows you to get those 8 cm. I've read some people have got 10 or 13 cm.
talk with the doc first and analyze your real chances. probably you can't be that tall but you can be normal.  :)

Another important thing to consider is if you think your proportions will be able to handle a six inch increase. I know that, personally, I'd like kind of look like a freak if my legs were 6 inches longer. If too much of your height comes from your legs, and you look too weird, you'll lose the advantages of being taller.

Yes, it's realistic.  People have done that much and more.

Well, I know for a fact I have very short legs compared to rest of my body. Unfortunately, I feel like there have been multiple factors as to why I am short. I am just trying to get to an average height.

Not only that, the surgeon that I spoke with only allows 8cm on each bone as the max which I think is safe. Anymore than that may lead to serious complications down the road. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I am glad I found this site because when I first found LL and old forum  years ago, I was one of those delusional people that thought I could just go for 12 to 13cm in one or 2 go's, not really aware of the potential consequences of that much lengthening. After reading on this site of the horror stories and finding out some of the so called "patient diaries" were fake diaries being used to promote certain surgeons, I found myself taking a step back and talking to other surgeons instead of the one's being promoted. The one I intend to go to is operating in Frankfurt as of now.

As far as 10cm+ goes, I am sure there are people who have done it but i'd rather be 5'8 1/2 than to try to make it to six feet tall. That to me would be unrealistic.

5cm on tibs and 6 on femurs is considered to be the safest
maximum lengthening limit.

So would it be better to do 11cm on two seperate surgery or one 7-8cm on one surgery, if functional recovery was the priority?

I would like to resume playing soccer and working in gym at 90% of pre LL conditions.  Is that possible?

Never do more than 6 CM on a segment if you want to make a full recovery. If you want to really make sure to have a full recovery, only do external tibiae and internal femurs, and no more than 4-5 CM per segment. My personal "dream" is to do 4+4, but I may have to settle for 6.5 CM once on femurs.

Hello again, Tall, is that because of financial concerns or is it something else? Also, by full recovery, do you mean to say full athletic, strength, and speed recovery?

And why externals on tibiae and not internals?

I plan on getting 6 cm on tibia and 6 cm on femur, im 171cm.

I just would rather play it safe.  think if you got 12 cm you would be fine.

going above that can test ones luck I think.

you could always get 12 cm and then wear 1 inch lifts. even when the 1 inch lifts come off you'll still be really tall no one will know.
