Why does he not do internal femurs for cosmetic? Aesthetic purpose only or technical as well?

My understanding is that he does do internal tibias though. If I decide to do an inch from internal tibias (because I can't be in frames for that long), I will be going to Dr. Catagni for sure. He's really impressed me with the communication I've had with him.

In which way did he impress you?

Catagni is an expert, even a legend with Ilizarov based techniques for treating deformities and corrections. Because he is so good with one technique, I doubt he has a high internal nailing count and is probably not that comfortable with it.

In this case, I'd rather go to someone like Dr. M in Los Angeles who is not world renowned, but has done 50+ bilateral cases as of last year when I consulted.

If I will go with him, it will be using the Ilizarov technique for my tibias. He said during a phone conversation that aesthetically tibias are much better than femurs

Firstly, good luck! I will read your diary.
And for method, isnt it easier to hide if you do femurs?I mean your clothes will always hide your femurs,(even at the beach for example)and there will be scars with external tibias.
Don't we have longer femurs alredy?

Why to hide the scars? To people who never met me I will just say that I had a car accident or something. To people who know me I will tell them the truth

Not only scars.I meant its easier to hide extra longness in femurs with clothes. But still,it shouldnt be a huge problem if you do a reasonable amount.
Good luck.

He seems like he's a fan on the achilles tendon lengthening while other doctos aren't. What are your thoughts?

He is a fan of long tibias and does not discourage if you wanna go over 7 cm on tibias, which as a result, requires ATL.

yes, he prefers long tibias rather than long femors and during the consult he said to me that almost 100% of his patients requires ATL

achilles lengthening will  weaken the tendon... its impossible that it wont

paley recommends against atl,and from my experience, paley is correct

it's just not possible that  a tendon that is thinner and loner  before  will be as strong

From your scar it's obvious that your lengthening was done wrong.

tbike

it is not possible  by the laws of mechanics

mine mightve been done wrong, but you can't change our physical laws

tendon after lengthening is ALWAYS longer and thinner

that can not be as strong... it's not possible

So are you muscles.. You stretch them and you stretch the tendon. I have seen videos of people who have undergone ATL and they move just fine. Depends on the lengthening of the tendon of course

atl is not the same as stretching

depending on the technique, you have less mass after atl... pieces are cut away

its not nearly the same

Atleast according to Catagni, all his cosmetic patients that have undergone ATL got back to full athletic ability. I will discuss this issue with him at the consultation though. After the consultation I will be much more informed. I got so many raccomendations about him from otehr docs here in Italy and from Israel (my home country).

catagni has told me the same thing

ask paley or rozbruch though what they think

paley will definitely say that is not the case, I would recommend against atl at all costs... gastroc  recession is what's usually recommended

hi tibike200

I am planning to stay in Lecco for the entire procedure until the frame's removal with my mom and renting an appartment. If you will do it together with me near the end of this year it will be better cause we will be two doing it haha
