Can nail removal be done by a different doctor?
« on: January 17, 2016, 12:49:58 PM »

I am pretty sure it is the case with nails like Precice and Fitbone, but what about the other nails? is the removal a standard procedure?

Yes, any capable CLL doctors can remove your nails although they were not installed by the same doctor.  But ask a good reputable doctor to remove your nails.

Yes, any capable CLL doctors can remove your nails although they were not installed by the same doctor.  But ask a good reputable doctor to remove your nails.
You just need an orthopedic surgeon, no need for a CLL doctor.

Yes.  The more you know about the nail's schematics the better, though.  I remember a fellow Beijing patient wanted to have his taken out in Canada and asked me to ask them what type of nail they used because the Canadian surgeon wanted to know.

Any surgeon can remove a nail.

However you need to make sure that the surgeon you pick  respect the minimally invasive method.

In addition, make sure the surgeon has the appropriate equipment (proper sized screwdrivers, and adequate extractor.

In our practice, most nail removals are even covered by insurance.
