To do or am I being silly?
« on: December 24, 2015, 03:56:41 PM »

So guys the big question.. Should I actually go through with this...

I'm 200cm tall already.. My inside leg measurment (to the ankle bone) is 80cm on the long leg and about 78.5 on my shorter leg putting me at just over 31" at 6ft7

I've had trouble with my knees before do to the leg difference and this transfers through the whole posterior chain..

After wearing a heel in one foot it does reduce the knee pain greatly but it's abit impractical to always have a heel or special shoe really.. So it makes sense to have the op to even my legs out atleast..

Now.. I would argue if I'm going to go through all the effort of LL on one leg for 15/20mm on one leg I may aswell do a good job and stretch both to an even length +90mm ish (about 29% the tibial length anyway)

Seems reasonable and this would give me a 35" inside leg length which is still fairly short for my height but a lot better then the 31" I'm at currently.

Opinions would be greatful.

I think you should only correct the discrepancy and not do cosmetic LL.  Longer legs might not fix your issues and might even create new ones.

I think you are trying to find a good excuse to do leg lenghtening.Having a 2 cm legs discrepancy is nothing,
I doubt that a nhs doctor would accept to do this surgery on you.
At 200 cm you are already taller than 99.99 & of the population, I also seriously doubt that reputable doctors would accept you.

i think you should see a few doctors and get multiple opinions, not doctors who preform LL. Tell them about your knee issues and the fact that one leg is 1.5 cm which is not even bad in the first place I just don't think it's worth it man fixing your short leg might enhance your knee pain rather than aid it.

Without sugar coating it for you, it's not just silly, it's outright madness. You are 6"7!!

Fix your discrepancy and be done.. Your contribution to this site has been valuable though. It's been good getting a tall mans perspective.

There is a reason we are in this forum, is to improve our life quality. If the shorter leg brings u discomfort, do the LLing. If u think few CM added on both legs can make ur view different, do it--- but few CM added on 165CM is totally different from adding to 2 meters.

Besides u already could see easily all the men's bolded head from 2M view... Isn't it enough for u Hahahha

I think part of it is the psychological thing. I'm used to towering over most people and I do meet a few guys near enough my height so I kind of like to be really tall.. My proportions do bother me a lot.. If I wear a normal length top and pants then my top touches my belly button from being so short. I walk around constantly pulling my top down and pants up.

If however I wear a specially long jumper I think I look extra short and stumpy.. You don't realise my legs look short until I have that extra length on my body which sort of amplifies it. Now I'm bulking up and stuff I can't hide anymore and need to get longer tops and I'm starting to get stumpier. A lot of it will be in my head but some people do notice.

My brother in law is only 5ft7ish and his legs are not far off my length.

Hopfully that link will work..

If you look I'm wearing a normal length size large jumper and my jeans pulled up as high as I can go without strangling the old gentlemen. You can see there I don't look to bad but my jumper is as high as my belt buckle and I often end up pulling it down to stop my belly getting out haha!!

Imagine if I was to add enough length to that jumper (ill try and take one when I can) it would make my legs look very short.. Even more so if I wore my jeans in a more relaxed position as most people would..

Perhaps I'm being to picky I don't know but that's what I feel..

Having seen alot of proportions on this site I can safely say in those pictures you posted it looks totally normal and your current torso to leg length looks fine.

It doesn't matter what way you spin it, it will always be odd for a 6"7 man not to feel tall enough... Must be so tough to have a few people close to your height haha. Thank god you aren't under 6 feet tall. You'd probably have height neurosis worse then all of us!

I say stop looking for people's approval regarding whether or not to go through with this and just do it if you really want.

I'm not sure how I would feel if I was a lot shorter.. I would be used to my size so maybe I wouldn't be as bad. As a kid I was 6ft1/2 when I was 13 so I towered over everyone. I never had growth spurts just consistently grew at a very very fast rate so it does feel as though people have caught up with me.. All my short friends as a kid are now 6ft4 so not really much shorter.. Probably just a bit silly really.

I'll think abit more about what to do..

In the end, it's about what makes you happy.  If you hate your proportions that much, then I say go for it.
