Precise does have competitors. Off the top of my head, other internal rods you might want to look into are Fitbone, Guichet Nail, Betz Nail, and Jamal Nail. There are also older variants like Albizzia and ISKD....

The problem is lack of demand.  For prices to be lower, companies would need to be able to make more money from volume.

Luxuries are never cheap. Ferrari has competition from Lamborghini, but both companies price their cars ridiculously expensive.

you would expect someone to come out with a nail that's no more than 3k. how any small ass nail cost 30k is beyond me and makes no sense.

srsly now thinking of it i would invest the   out of trying to create a nail thats reliable and cheap. Advertise it decently i wouldn't be surprised if LL became a norm but im guessing we are still years away from that.

Companies spent ridiculous amount of money for R&D in order to come up with a product and that 30k refers to all costs incurred from the initial phase to the launching phase.

Economic theory suggests that if demand increasese, everything else being constant, price will actually increase.

In order for price to decrease, we need increased supply. That would happen if demand increase somewhat and that shows potential for greater profits and many companies enter the market, so supply drastically beats demand. Which is the case with Milk and Cheese on the market.
