Proportions

I was perusing the other MakeMeTaller forum when I noticed a post quite a while ago from a girl known as 'ilizarovgirl'. She posted a brilliant image of body proportions (both male and female) and their corresponding levels of attractiveness. I have it below for you to take a look at. Now right below it is a picture of my mockup (6ft 0/1") and the pre-LL me at 5ft 6/7". It is a total of 15CM of lengthening - 8CM on the Femurs and 7CM on the Tibias.

Now this very important because most people on this forum (looking at you Uppland  ;) ) would consider this level of lengthening ludicrous. To a certain extent, I do agree. However here is the catch. If you look closely, you see that despite the vast lengthening that I am looking to achieve. I would still be at roughly 1.2 on this graph. It goes to show that irrelevant of what you want to achieve in lengthening your legs. You still need to consider that your body will only be judged as a whole and not just on 'how long are your legs'. My friend Brad is now nearing 6ft 3" and has the same torso length as me, he has 2 inches on arms but then again considering i'm 5ft 6/7" (169) and he is 6ft 2/3" (188) .. his arms should be considerably longer than mine.

A final note on this proportion section is that this post is not here as basis to debate on bio-mechanical rehabilitation or otherwise here to undermine the topic of athleticism. It is here solely for the purpose of discussing torso-leg proportions and showing those that are debating whether to snub their dreams of being taller, that proportions really aren't as big-a-deal as they are made out to be.

Tibial Lengthening Formula

So as i'm sure a lot of you are aware the tibia is not meant to be lengthened more than 3/4 mm (three quarters of a mm) per day. This is because of potential nerve damage and tendon issues that can occur, among the plethora of other tibial complications  :P.

I'm just putting this formula here for anybody that wants to work out how long (days) it would take you to lengthen your tibias by a certain amount:

[Amount you want to lengthen (mm) / 3] * 4 = Days it would take you to lengthen that amount

//IMPORTANT// - Always round up! : for example, I want to lengthen 7cm in my tibias so I would do the following:

[70 / 3] * 4 = 93.3333 .......Therefore it would take me 94 days to lengthen as I would do the last little bit on the 94th day.

If you want proof of why this works then in Dr Paley's Information booklet he says that a patient that wants to lengthen 65mm (6.5 cm) would take 87 days to do it. So lets plug it into the formula:

[65 / 3] * 4 = 86.6666 ... Round to 2 significant figures gives you 87 days.

You will (using this method) always get a recurring number as you are dividing by 3 which is of course 0.3333 (recurring). So therefore if you round up then you will be guaranteed to find the exact amount of days required.

I don't quite understand, at 183CM your inseam will be 20% longer than your torso?

That sounds like way too much, even a 50% inseam to height ratio is far beyond acceptable.

I will also add that despite your graph, the mockup still looks bad (which should be all that matters in a proportions discussion). I remember that you wanted to become more attractive so I'll say this: lengthening more than 7CM will be counter-productive for you. 5-6CM would be my recommendation.

The point is Uppland is I am not looking for perfect proportions. I have a friend is who is even worse proportions than my 6ft one  ;D [and he was born with it] As always I will respect what you say, we are on the opposite ends of the argument. I will personally not see myself in the same light with only 6cm added. Maybe 8.5 on femur and 6.5 on tibia (as Apotheosis recommended), but i'd be selling myself short (literally) if I was to only do 6cm.

Proportions are important but even when the mock-up looks bad .. the final result may look much better. But also much worse

Not for sometime my friend. For a change that I want to achieve I will need a lot of money and 3 years (minimum) of my life to fully recover from potentially 2 procedures.

Most of what I post is to help others through showing my mock-ups and posting counter arguments.
