Arent you guys terrified!!!!
« on: September 21, 2015, 12:29:20 PM »

Ive almost got enough money now to do external tibias with a good doctor. Its easy for me to say I am going to get 5cm or whatever. its totally different in reality, I have really had enough being 160cm though so I def need to do this. I really want to do it but how do you get over the fear. I have never had any surgery in my life. How do you get the balls to go through with it

Breaking both my legs, surgery, pain, being in a foreign country disabled, anasthesia, complications. My life is in a random doctors hands. I have never had any surgery before so that doesnt help

Well, try reducing all the stressful bits.
Go to a country you don't need too much to get into. Visa etc. If you are from Europe stay in the EU for example.
Some doctors would let you go back home for the lengthening time and for consolidation, if you wish.
Get as many info as possible on the procedure so that you know what you are expecting.
Pain is often not as bed as expected, pain killers can help you a lot.

I hope this helps

Mate i am going through lenthening right now and i was ready mentaly and phisically before the op and now i am on 6cm trust me this whole 3 month i had pain all day and the pain was much stronger then ive expected no matter what pain killer you use the strenth will reduce so if you can take pain then hmgo ahead if not just prepare your self mentally phisically and muild upper body its gonna help you alot and stretch you calf muscle everyday 4 time for 4 weeks before  surgery
that will help as i dont have ballerina surgery it self no pain trust me everything at the beggining is kind a easy i had that in my mind saying ghey gonna break both of my legs and with 2 broken legs how i am gonna function trust me frames are very strong and you wont feel you broken bones

I'm a bit scared because I have a big fear of needles and the thought of complications doesn't make me happy.
The pain I'm not worried about. It's temporary, non tangible and I can take it.

Man, you've gotta want LL so bad that you don't care about any of that stuff.  Think of the terror of being short all your life!  If that's not worse and doesn't make you forget about your LL-related worries, maybe it's not for you.

This.

There was a question, don't know on this forum or the old-
"Would you give 5 years old your life to be your dream height?"
And LOTS of people said "no" and still want LL. Are you kidding me?

It doesn't mean "Your LL would take 5 years", it means "You'll die 5 years younger than you were supposed to."

If you can't answer "yes" for that, rethink whether you should get LL or not.

Im afraid of 1 thing when It comes to this surgery, and that is If I genetically have bad bone regeneration like Emmanuel did, that would put me in a wheelchair for years to come, since the nail Im gonna use is not weight-bearing:/

@chsn,  I wouldn't worry about your nail not being weight bearing.....you can always go see betz and have him replace your nails with titanium rods once you finish lengthening.....apparently rod replacement is a big part of his business ;)

5 years is too much, but you must be prepared to dedicate more than a year to complete the process If complications occur.

LL could leave you with complications that come later in life and easily take 5 years of your life.

Smart guY. THat sounds terrible, but I agree. It could happen. Even If you obey all the doctors indications complications may occur both soon and later, and They can easily take some years of your life.

Exactly. And you do LL to gain 2-3 inches.
The question was 5 years for your dream height.
Lots of people that don't even want LL would take that offer.

good post. I have the same doubts and fears. Even if the surgery is a success (especially with a great surgeon) there are some complications that could happen during distraction and recovery phase. it is not possible to foresee how our body will react because everybody is different.

I came across these videos Not really relatable but may put things into perspective

I mean Atleast you will be doing it to your own accord and have an idea that it will make you happier afterwards when all things are said and done.
Imagine suffering something else in life that you can't control though.
or having the pain you will experience from this surgery but with no reward in the end.
or having your legs forcefully broken from unpredictable circumstances

What you fear, some one else is experiencing. We're all in this together
