Hi Everyone
« on: September 16, 2015, 03:14:40 AM »

Hello, I am new here.. well, been lurking for a while now. This is the only place I feel comfortable really.
I am 5'6, and wear lifts whenever I'm out and that usually puts me on the 5'10ish, thats fine. Not that tall but it makes me feel average and more importantly happy.

Although, you can imagine the struggle how much it inhibits you from living freely and socialising in an open environment being afraid to take your shoes off everytime. I've worked around it, but can't do this for the rest of the entire life

Which leads us here. So after reading through several posts and threads. Any experts, vets, anyone..giving personal advice suggestions guidance whatever the case may be. Doctors, budget.

I been considering this 3 years ago although I thought it was unrealistic and a childs dream, now that I'm older 23. It now appears more plausible as I've become more mature and understand the significance of investment

So in that sense, what is a realistic goal and outcome for a short brother like me? and which route, doctor and country do I lean towards to. Although I like to do more research for a year or so, just get healthier. Sacrificing athletic ability and all, that's fine. As long as we achieve an acceptable length. Not to be greedy but to maximize what time and money can get you.

Going through some threads, how some of members are considering buddying up and sharing accommodations and going through the process together. Even some members offering their homes and couch to stay. That's a nice idea, a little great supportive community you's have here.

I got 3+ long years to do nothing with life. (I'm on a long break)
Although it appears some folks achieve their desired goals less than a year, even half a year before they can get back to their daily lives.

My femurs are very very short, almost out of proportion :\ that's what I want done foremost. and as everyone has stated it's best to get femur first if planning to do both femur and tibia.
I'll be happier with 6-7cm on femur but it seems 5cm is the safest option. and I'll be happy with anything on the tibia.
Although I've been reading some insane results on both

I don't really have any expectations or how much lengthening I desire
I'll take it as it comes

I don't really have a budget, but the most reasonable price is what I'm after. What I do have is alot of time.
So any suggestions ?

I had a life-changing adventure getting my legs lengthened in China.  It wasn't just the getting taller part; it was great meeting and talking with the other patients at the hospital and being immersed in another culture for five months.  I felt like it was a vacation from life.  No responsibilities other than to turn the knobs, eat my food, and get enough sleep.  Dr. Peng, Wang Bei, and the nurses and maids took care of everything.  That's the argument I can make for going with the doctor who did my legs.

However, most people doing LL first look at their financial situation, then make a budget and go from there.  If you can afford the high-priced doctors like Guichet or Paley, you should probably go with them instead of one of the cheaper doctors.  You'll get more expertise and a higher standard of care.

Adventure, that's the main point of it all hey. Happy to hear you had a great experience, that is the same state of mind I'm planning to have. Take it as it comes and enjoy the journey.
May I ask you, which doctor you are talking about? and what was your budget etc

I am having a look at my budget, 50k would be the recommended amount correct?
However, I prefer the least amount as possible as long as it does it's job.

For internal femurs, I'd recommend Dr. Monegal in Spain. He has the same quality and level as care as the $80,000+ doctors for 40-50K. Plus, unlike most other doctors, he runs many tests and has special procedures to make sure your alignment is spot on. So that's who is go to for femurs. But do your research and chose the doctor who you ultimately feel fits you best. Good luck!

I went to Dr. Aimin Peng in Beijing.  He currently charges about $35,000 which includes accommodations in a hospital the whole time you're there, with round-the-clock care by doctors and nurses if you need them.  He also fixes all complications for free.  He doesn't use all-internal lengthening methods, though, and is really conservative when lengthening femurs.

If you want to do femurs and have 50k, I think a good choice is Dr. Jamal in Ukraine.  He offers internal femur lengthening up to 7cm for $39,000, which includes coverage for complications but not accommodations.  But you'll have 11k left over which is plenty for an apartment and food and all that in Kiev while you lengthen.

Thank you, I will definately look into it and do my research. But thank you for the information and given direction muchly appreciated!

It's the shoes+lifts that add up to 4 inches, so you can imagine how uncomfortable they are everyday. I found ways to work around it and disguise it but I can't do this for the rest of my life

Conservative huh? but I'm sure it's all for the right reasons. I'm still undecided whether I want femurs or tibia.
Yes 35-40k range sounds ok to me for the femur. I will probably lean towards 39k for 7cms.
However $35k sounds like it will do it's job and I'll be happy with the adventure with Dr.Aimin Peng.
Very interesting read, thank you

Did I understand correctly that it is 35k for external femurs with Dr. Peng? That is a lot for external femurs...Does he use Monorails?

You could look into having it done with Dr Birkholtz in Pretoria, South Africa. http://www.limblengtheningforum.com/index.php?topic=137.0

He used to be on the forum a lot and was very helpful. He's had a couple Precice cosmetic patients that we know of (possibly more that haven't written a patient experience) and the patients reported having a good experience with him.

For Precice 2 femur lengthening he charges around 550,000 ZAR. Current exchange rate = $41,393.84

That includes all medical related costs and they'll help you find affordable accommodation while there.

Thank you so much! Awesome, I've always planned on touring South Africa!
Sounds like a solid deal, but no cover on the accomodation?
Ah well still sounds good, I'll have a look into it thank you
