Hi. Do you think it is an impractical goal to aim walking without crutches(slowly of course) within 6 to 7 Months of initial surgery after 2 surgeries(Tibia and Femur) if you lengthen 11 CM in total(5 on Tibia and 6 on Femur)?

I was thinking like 2 Months of distraction on Tibia and 1 Month on consolidation followed by a second surgery on Femur within a week of post 1 Month consolidation on Tibia, again 2 Months distraction on Femur and 1 Month consolidation until dumping crutches. Sounds reasonable?

I realize 1 Month for consolidation on Tibias may be insignificant but I've seen Dr. Paley recommend as much as 1 week gap between the surgeries so a 3 Month gap shouldn't be that big a problem. Besides, I'll be done stretching 3 Months post-op.

So what do ya think?
Also what do ya think about Tibias with Guichet first and Femur with Paley immediately post 3 Months tibia?

LL has a big risk itself. Why would you multiple the risks by doing this???

Why cant you do tibias first, recover and then do femurs or? That would be the most logical thing to do.

Walking unaided after 6-7 months is very unrealistic.

At least you chose the best doctors available.

I just wanna get done with it for once and for all, jfk.
How's it unrealistic, by the way?

No way you'll walk fine in 6 months after doing tibias AND femurs.
It's a best case scenario. I wouldn't call it "practical" at all.

It's 100% unrealistic.  6 months after my initial surgery, after lengthening just 7.5cm on one segment, was when I STARTED using crutches.

I totally understand that you want to be finished as fast as possible. And you dont want 20 cm or something. Only 5 cm and then another 6 cm. So your goals are fine. Just your timeframe is hard to do in real life.

You are not the first guy and you will not be the last guy who comes up with some unrealistic timeframe. At the latest when you actually really do it you will see how difficult it is and how long consolidation really takes.

I wish for you that it works out like the way you planned. And you can listen to me and others who tell you that it is not possible to do it like this or not. I just want to help you by telling you that your goals are fine but you should plan more time for that.

You know that I have been through LL by doing LATN. I know that you will do internals and you will do it with top doctors and that is a very good choice by the way. If you really insist on doing tibias and femurs almost parallel then at least take one year time to do this. If you can walk fine one year after your first surgery then you have managed something extraordinary. That would be a great achievement! Just remember that consolidation takes a lot of time. You can still do it the way you planned just be prepared that it could take longer than 6-7 months. Double the time and you have what I would estimate it will take.

Good luck on your journey!

May be you're right. I've read people on old forum mention it shouldn't too tough walking unaided 3.5 Months at 5 CM.
So I just thought of undergoing another surgery 3 to 3.5 Months after initial surgery. 1 year is too much.

It's 100% unrealistic.  6 months after my initial surgery, after lengthening just 7.5cm on one segment, was when I STARTED using crutches.
While I may be ambitious but your timeline isn't exactly standard either, especially for internals.
Besides 7.5 CM on tibia isn't 'just 7.5 CM'. There's 33% difference in 5 CM and 7.5 CM.

I totally understand that you want to be finished as fast as possible. And you dont want 20 cm or something. Only 5 cm and then another 6 cm. So your goals are fine. Just your timeframe is hard to do in real life.

Don't ya think a year is a bit too much to lengthen 11 CM only?
Barring any complications, I'd say 8 Months at most. It's not like I'm talking about running or walking perfectly.
I'm self-employed - I've some new projects to take on, LL is the only thing holding me back.

you need to listen to people that have actually had this surgery

there is zero chance    of you lengthening 11 cm, and walking in even 12 months... forget this dream

You sure live up to your username.  Go ahead and rush into two LLs and see what happens, then.

Best thing for you to do is choose the best surgeon and ask them all the questions you have.  No one on this site is qualified to answer these questions and can only speak from their own experiences.

Why cant you just make a post and tell us that you start next month, that you stick to your plan and that you will make a diary. People like you come here state some bull  and then they go and you never hear actually what happened.

Tell us that you will prove us wrong and you will start next month.

When will I see someone who actually has the balls to do what they say.

Just some talking like "Yes it is possible" and then you never hear anything more.

Dont talk. Do it. And write about it.

I think that you shouldnt rush this surgery . That is a bad option. You must take your time to do everything well and take your time to recover
