Method: External Ilizarov (Currently not offering LON/LATN)
Length of stay: 4-6 days

For post discharge stay we shall assist you to book a hotel/guest house as per your budget preference.


**The price quoted as above is an indicative of the treatment as per the reports shared and is subject to change in case of any change of treatment plan at the time of physical examination of the patient. We shall provide visa assistance to the patient and their attendant. The medical visa application needs to be put up at the Indian Embassy, of your country and in case if you face any problem with visa we can assist you for the urgent visa, for which you will have to send us the passport details. One can assume though that he would charge around the sme price for LATN and or LON if and when he starts offering it.

How is it barbaric? You wear the frames for 4 - 6 months longer than LON and you don't have to worry about permanent knee many patients suffer from having a nail inside their bone.

After some of the recent discussions about the knee pain caused by having your knee cut open, a hole drilled, and a steel rod inserted, I am considering external.

It's a few more months with frames but no permanent knee pain and no surgery for rod removal.

Ah, I thought it was because of his first initials judging from a few of the the above comments - somehow I always find docs with funny names, like Dr. Porn-A-Nake Tardthong from Thailand.

True there has been controversy with some of the cheaper doctors. None of the docs we put up here are endorsements of the doctors though - we still listed Dr. Sarin and Dr. Sringari despite the controversy. It's really just so people can have some starting info more than anything. I think everyone should have a one on one consultation with any doc and base their decision to do the surgery on that, even with the more expensive options.

True, that actually sounds good. Get all of the doctors willing to do LL and then have prospective patients scout things out. Still, I think it is important to understand that you get what you pay for.

most ppl think about the 10 -12 months in frames and forget that it is actually just another 4-6month in frames when compared to LON & LATN

I have been seriously considering the salmefix. I am hoping it can be concealed under more clothes other than jeans and Track pants

According to the hospital, his team has used the Ilizarov procedure about 130 times within the last six years. I presume most of them were deformity corrections though.

this is incredibly cheap compared to the other options, however it would be good to know what the cost is for extended hospital stay. It makes you wonder though how the quality is when the costs are so low.

It is interesting but i already made my choice.

With the extra costs you'd still end up paying a pretty low amount. What does seem appealing about Dr. Murthy is that the hospital will assist you in finding a hotel or guesthouse to stay in according to your budget. If he has good bedside manner, will answer all your questions and is upfront with the risks involved and what to expect, honest, etc., then he shouldn't be any worse to go to than other docs currently popular in India. Just from his orthopedic experience he seems more qualified to be doing this procedure than Dr. Sringari.

E-mail the hospital and/or call them and see if you can talk with Dr. Murthy directly. The best thing would be to have a personal consultation with him if you are able to do so.

It's not a good idea to have people call for you. What languages do you speak? The hospital may have staff members there that can speak your language. You can use the Contact Us form on the hospital website to inquire about Dr Murthy.

I sent an email to that address and here's the response:

We provide complimentary airport transfers. Kindly share the flight details at least 3 days prior from the travelling date.

Dr. Murthy has performed hundreds of cases till date.

Good post.

Max Super Specialty Hospital has a pretty good reputation among doctors in Delhi. Many have left other hospitals to work there. I haven't been there yet (stupid visa is taking way too long to process) but I suspect that if doctors have moved to MSSH due to higher pay and work environment you'd get better attention from them since they're more satisfied with their work environment.

I sent them a response to my last email last night and they replied at around 9.30 AM GMT this morning.

They give a comprehensive response, as opposed to the inane responses you get from Dr. Sarin.
