When distal fibula site have a gap and not heal
« on: May 15, 2015, 09:04:41 PM »

Hey Forum,

If you do a leg lengthening surgery with proximal tibia osteotomy and distal fibula osteotomy with external fixators and after the consolidation fase your tibia is healed with bone and you can weightbear but at the fibula site there is a gap where bone is missing - In this situation is it OK to remove the fixators from the legs?

Yes, it is ok to remove the fixators.  The fibula is not necessary for weightbearing.
