5'9 is very tall for a woman,even in Europe. Not gigantic,  but  quite tall. 6 feet  for a woman is  extremely tall,  gigantic..  There's a very  small % of women in Europe that are really 6 feet tall  barefoot. I'm  guessing less than 1%

As far as facing the negatives in society, I think a 5'2 man and a 6'2 woman have it equally rough.

i dont know i wouldn't want to be a woman. it may depend on how short the guy is. Is he moderately short (5'5-5'7) or super short (5'1-5'4)
