Diminishing Returns for LL
« on: March 21, 2015, 01:12:00 AM »

At what height do you believe that the risks of surgery and potential complications of LL outweigh the potential benefits?

I believe after you have passed average height for your age group in your particular country the benefits of getting LL drop
drastically compared to the risks.

What do you think?

I think the benefits stop at about 6' unless you're from a really tall, homogeneous country.  Being tall definitely has its advantages over being average.  I'd get a second LL if not for the proportion issues that would come with it.  Problem is, when I stand on my tiptoes and look at my legs, they just look too long.

Going from average to tall is still substantial and a worthwhile endeavor. I would say the benefits start to decrease when you're considered 'tall' by the majority of people your age in your country. In my case, within my age group, this doesn't start until about 6'3"/190cm or so.

However I wouldn't say a male would be wasting his time wanting to become even taller than 6'3". As long as he got internal femurs so he wasn't incapacitated for half of a year, I could consider going 6'4"+ a worthwhile endeavor.

I think I mention 5'9 before because that is my height :)

But truly, it's hard to quantify a cutoff height for when the risk outweighs the benefit. Everyone's circumstances is unique. How much money do you have? What is your current height? How old are you and what's your health (the older you are the more risk you have)?  How much do you value being inches taller? Moreover, where do you live?

First of all, average height varies between geography. People living in Asia requires less height to be average than European.

Second is income. You can drastically reduce the risk of complication by going with the top doctor and using the best medical facility that money can buy. For someone with lots of money, LL may be like a hip luxury like buying a personal tanning bed. But for those on low income, LL with a decent doctor could be out of reach and they may have to resort to incompetent doctors, thereby increasing the risk for complication.

Thirdly, how much do you value do you value being taller? I read some comments and discover that there are some members (like Ajax) who would rather die to be 6'3, then to be 6'0. And obviously there are some short people out there who don't care about height. So for Ajax, the risks and complication would be worthwhile (based on his comment) compare to someone who is less sensitive about height.

However, we live in society that is govern by societal norm. Where I live, it is not common for men to undergo cosmetic surgery to enhance their appearance. The cutoff for cosmetic surgery and for therapeutic purposes is the point where the person is doing it to face less discrimination in life which is required (to reach closer to average) and where the person is doing it to enhance his appearance (vanity, domination, etc.) which is unnecessary for "normal" functioning. You can decide for yourself where this point is.

I know that in Korea/Japan, it's not unusual for men to put on makeup and to do cosmetic surgery. But where I live, you risk being branded as sissy if you get caught doing cosmetic surgery. I live in a very conservative part of the neighbour if saying this makes you feel better. However, some people don't care being called sissy or they can move to San Fransisco where being called sissy is hip.

Smallguy, I'm just curious why you want to do CLL? I'm 5' 9" as well, and my only reason would be for girls/women

Hey NewHeight,

I have already done LL. This would be my 2nd time. I haven't thought about LL for a long time. I'm going through a list of priority. But earlier, some people on this forum commented that I have short femur. So that bothers me a bit and plus, I have proportion to 5-6cm more. So the reason would be to balance out my legs ratio. And secondly,

I have the money at the moment. It would be just like a buying luxury car. Except I'm not into cars so would gladly spend my money on this. I would also go for a reputable doctor from a 1st world country with a solid record of successful LL patients... unlike the first time. However, I would be doing this mainly for cosmetical reason because 5'9 is the average height of male where I live., which would put me in the realm of sissyness.

Wow you must of place a lot of emphasis on girls. Women make you break your legs and spend a ton of money. Where do you live? Maybe the female/male ratio makes it hard to find an attractive girlfriend.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize that you had the procedure already. If you can do a second procedure where you have even better proportions with relatively low risk (which is the key), I say go for it.

I live in the US. Average height for the "Younger Generation" here is 5' 10" and average for white males 20-39 years old is 5' 10.5".

My primary reason (90%) for wanting to be taller is for girls/women and secondary (10%) is that I hate the fact that I am shorter than average and always feel slightly shorter than those around me.

A while ago, I heard a girl (who I somewhat liked at the time) mention that the first thing women notice in a guy is how tall they are (which implied that I wouldn't stand out because I'm not tall). I started to develop height neurosis at that point, but it was later reinforced by overhearing girls discussing how tall guys are "so hot", and finally by hearing a group of girls have a conversation about how a guy should be at least their height in heels, and preferably MUCH taller, and NEVER shorter.

In addition to feeling I was inadequate for women, I also developed a partial disdain for them because I never thought that women were the ones so fixated on looks. Afterall, personality and confidence are what matters right (LOL)?

Maybe I have just been really unfortunate to have met some shallow and dumb women, but their stabbing words are now hardwired in my brain, and they haunt me every day like a reoccurring nightmare.

At 183-184 or so where I live, at that height no one will consider you too short.

Smallguy do you have any pictures, videos or a diary I can check out?

If not could you make a thread where you tell us a bit what it was like and how you're doing now?

Yeah sorry to hear about your plight buddy although I don't know what to make of it.

Like the people on this forum, we sometime take other people comment too seriously and overreact. I would personally think it's a healthier mindset if you are doing this for yourself, your social proof, and not just because some random chicks made some nasty comments about you. In the end, if it's just the pussy you're after then it's not worth very much and there are plenty of it where I reside.

Btw, since you brought up this topic of girls.

I have a small space in my house which I plan on turning it into a guest room and lease it out on Airbnb. However, I want to benefit future LLer during their recovery phase.

So instead of staying at a hotel where the patient just be idle or watch porno all day. The patient can just fly over to my city for recovery and I could rent you out this guest room for the price of the hotel stay and provide you with live PUA bootcamp. Well, I'm not in any way PUA but picking up girls is not a rocket science eiher. I do get laid here and there when I try. In additional to providing the patient with 3-4 meals catering to max recovery, you also have my company and I can stroll you to clubbing 3-4 nights per week. Like LL, there is no guaranteed of the end result, but we can stack the favour in your odds to maximize your chance of getting laid. If not you still have real phone numbers where you get text the chicks. For physiotherapy, we could hit the gym, the mountain where my city is famous for or a walk on the beach where you get to see chicks in bathing suits.

This is my business proposition. I think this is a great service for those patient who wants to meet girls in a different city or for those who wants complete recovery before heading home. I know that it's kind of embarrassing to let your friends and family know about your surgery. I would lease out my small guest room to Airbnb but if any member is interested in recovering in my city, they can also do so :)

I used to back in the days when this forum is still small. And I know 2-3 other member personally where we can share our recovery video. However, a lot has changed and I feel a bit uncomfortable exposing myself.
