children shorter than their parents

i see some of you blaiming the bad education and the diet you had because your father is taller, as if you potential had not been achieved.
According to my experience and observation, it's not rare to be shorter than of his parent or at best as tall as him.
Two examples pops into my mind: bill gates (178 cm) whose father seems to be 195 cm, and scott eastwood (180 cm) whose father (clint eastwood) was 193 cm at his peak, but now he is only 183 cm.

I have a few friends who are also taller than their father
-friend 1:172cm fater:187 cm
-friend 2:165 cm father:170cm
friend3: 176 cm father:188 cm

and my other are just one or two centimeters taller than ttheir father
Of course, we all know this dude who is 195 cm and have very shorts parents, but most children don't end at a similar height than their father.

I am about 10 cm's shorter than my dad, two of my best friends are around 2m and both have average to short parents though.

Just based on my own observations, it seems like a guy's height is determined more by the mother's genetics than the father's. So it seems like a guy is going to be taller if he has a short dad and tall mom than if he has a tall dad and a short mom.

I once read an article in a sience journal about this, if I remember correctly the article stated that the mothers genes are more important in some aspects, idk If it included anything about height.

I know this was the case for me. I inherited my mom's good looks (thankfully), but I also got her horrible height genetics, not to mention I'm stocky like her too. But I love her anyway lol

Same here, if it wasn't due to my 9/10 facial aesthetics I'd probably be a little bitter towards her  :P

Same here. The facial aesthetics are what saved me, especially at my former height.

You guys are still lucky. At least you have facial aesthetics which already put you above the general population. It's way better to be a bit short but good-looking. This is still more respectable than being tall and downright ugly.

For me, I got none of those - being both short and lacking facial aesthetic. My dad has some french features, like cupid chin, high nose ridge, square forehead, deep eyes with sharp brows and other refining facial features. But none of those were pass on over to me. All my life, I've been chasing to live up to my father's expectation. In high school, I was known as the beast and girls were generally afraid of talking to me. My teacher also branded me of becoming criminal one day. The only time sex would come my way is because I don't take "NO" for answer and being rapist certainly helped as well.

You probably aren't nearly as bad as you think man. As long as you workout and try to have good hygiene and maintain yourself, you can still do really well with women. And if your height is truly a problem for you, LL will always be here if you choose that option too.

well, you could change both, you could do aesthetic facial surgeries and LL to change that man.

At 5'9, I'm already content with my height and have thought less and less about LL even though I could afford it at the moment. My Apple shares already quadruple since the last time I went to India. And I've been spending much of my time now hanging out on investment forum than on LL forum.

well, you could change both, you could do aesthetic facial surgeries and LL to change that man.

Actually, I disagree. At least where I live, it is not common for "real" man to do surgery for cosmetic purposes. But I know in Japan (and maybe France and other European countries) it is common for men to pluck their eye brows and dress up as women. If they do the same thing here, they would get stoned to death.

Realistically, I am man. I need to think and act like a man. A real man doesn't shriek out at the slightest difficulty in life and cries about it. I bench press 70kg and up at the gym and piss standing up - not sitting down. If I get a punch in the face, I would handle it like a real man. A real man also doesn't undergo cosmetic surgery to beautify himself.

LL is necessary for those who needs it because they are way less than average and face discrimination. Above 5'8 is done mainly for cosmetic purpose which I find is gay. Sorry for the tantrum. I think you agree with me but I just wanted to hint at those other on the forum.

Calling something gay because you disagree with it is usually not a sign of maturity :P I do agree with you though that it is something cosmetic and not necessary.
Do you think pressing 70kg is a manly weight?  ??? I wouldn´t consider myself as buffed but even for me 70kg´s is that not much tough.

Children end up surprisingly shorter than their parents just as often as they end up surprisingly taller. You just notice it less, because you don't see parents praising their kids for not growing. But on average, you will be in a percentile for your gender that is between the percentiles each parent is for their gender.

Oh I see. So you're a manly, honorable man, yet instead of bringing up your concerns to the appropriate parties to talk it out as men do, you have to take passive aggressive cheap shots in their general direction? For a male so concerned about how manly he is you should consider heeding your own advice.

Take note everyone else, this is about the umpteenth time the more vertical members of the forum have been terrorized by vindictive goons that lurk in the swamps.




In regards to the thread, i'm sure ending up shorter than your parents is fairly common, but does that mean we have no right to do something about it? I personally haven't met someone in a similar situation to my own, with said situation being two tall parents, but i'm sure they exist. With a mother an inch shorter and a father 4 inches taller, and the majority of my extended family having similar stats, I feel shortchanged by the world and I intend to do something about it. Do I blame it on nutrition and lost potential; not in my case. There's usually a runt in every litter, I was just unfortunate enough to be the runt.

If it makes you feel better, I can use the word "effeminate" or "woman-like" instead of gay. I'm not sure when gay actually becomes a bad word. But honestly, it is what it is. People do LL either for therapeutic purposes because they feel discriminated against and less than average. Or they do it for cosmetic purposes for good-feeling or "domination feeling" - another meaning for vanity. Like I said, it can be very common in certain part of the world like Japan or Korea where men try to make themselves look beautiful but not so much where I live.

Hey, I'm sorry that my comment offended you in any way. The fact that I didn't direct it to you means that I'm in no way interested in making fun of your desire to become taller. Even my earlier post, I have encouraged another member to go ahead with LL, despite being 6'0, if that makes him feel happier and that he would have no buyer remorse.

I've been around almost since this forum started. Many people have left but I'm sure that there may be one member or two who would heed my advice. I know. The majority of people only like to read what they want to hear. They like to read other comments which would support their own beliefs. If you're the type of person who thinks that LL is as easy as a walk in the park and only like to read the rosy and the majestic side of LL, then I think you may be a bit naive. You need to weigh the cost/benefit/risk. Moreover a natural 6'4 guy is not the same as a 6'4 guy who previously 6'1 who underwent LL to increase 3 inches.

We live in free countries. People can do as they want. No one will stop you from achieving your dream. But as good friends/samaritan, I like to point out something strange or bad to others when I spot them and I hope that others can do the same for me.

Also, my comment was in response to the suggestion of changing my face. With a few cosmetic surgeries (eyes, nose, mouth, legs) a man can inadvertently become a woman (eg. Michael Jackson). However, it's not common in my culture for a man to undergo cosmetic surgery to make himself beautiful. Sometime I feel like I'm doing someone a favour by pointing something not socially normal, but if you don't want to hear it, then fine. I'll stop. Cheers.
