Yup. This is exactly why I can't take Dr. M seriously (even though he's pretty good) and would never go to him.

Dr. Paley may be an ego maniac, but at least he doesn't resort to fear-inducing advertising methods.

I call it humiliation induced tactics.

designed to humiliate short people in society and make it laughable as a topic to the general population.

its only going to encourage girls to discriminate against short men openly. this advertisement makes it publicly acceptable to attack short people as a joke.

I understand all the controversy around Dr. M's marketing tactics, but at the end of the day, price is the most critical driving factor.

Plus here in Cali, I can have the first medical marijuana LL diary where I replace most painkillers with herb  ;D

My stats: 26 y/o, 5'4" dude, looking for 6.5-7cm on femur. Been saving for 4 years post-college, and thinking about LL for twice that long. I went to see Betz in 2011, but the Precice2 changed the game with cheaper options.

Mahboubian only has 6 years of practice as an orthopedic surgeon after coming from an unknown medical school. Sure he did a fellowship or something under Dr Rozbruch but fellows don't actually perform any surgeries so it doesn't mean he'd be any good just because of that. Part of the reason I wouldn't go to Mahboubian is that 6 years is way too short a time to be practicing to have experience with treating all the possible complications that can happen with Ilizarov surgeries. Some surgeons have said cosmetic lengthening is the most difficult kind of lengthening, and here we have Mahboubian jumping straight into it. No wonder he makes amateurish mistakes like inserting screws incorrectly, as Stadiometer pointed out. Add to it that Mahboubian is right near Paley in costs and doesn't even include PT and you have a total ripoff salesman rather than a doctor to seriously consider.

I think Dr. Paley kind of deserves to be an ego-maniac. He is a phenomenal ll doctor.

if paley was the first north american to study with Ilizarov himself during the cold war then that says quite a lot about him, even though i believe that there isn't a "best surgeon"

China's nominal GDP might surpass that of the United States in the next 30-50+ years, but I don't see anything happening with India until at least after 2100. However, I don't see America's position as a technological and scientific powerhouse being usurped anytime within the next several decades.

I'm planning to get my surgery done in China or India in February 2015. The only reason I may end up choosing China is because they deal with a lot of cases of cosmetic limb lengthening

My how this has strayed offtopic.

I'm for doing my femurs with Precice in Mumbai (Dr Suhas Shah; waiting for his replies on a few preliminary questions). I'd be particularly pleased to be allowed to come home to do the distraction. Those who remember me will recall that I went home to do the last two months of distraction after the op on my tibias in Beijing (November 2013). Got 8cm overall and still consolidating.

Anyone else headed to Mumbai prior to December?

Hi, Thegosis. I am planning to have LL late this year and have been researching related information. I prefer internal ones but they are expensive. May I know the price in Mumbai?

It seems that many people opt for Mumbai for Precice. February is too soon for me or we can meet up if I eventually choose Mumbai.

very little. less than u can imagine. accomodation: 60 000 RUB (2 000$) for 1 bedroom flat for 3 month rent (less if u share it with somebody). i don't know how much is staying in clinic though, probably more expensive.

Hi 177 cm. The rent sounds attractive. Given the more affordable price for internal LL in Russia, the option is feasible for me. Does Dr Solomin do internal LL?

I scheduled my consultation with Dr. Dror Paley for March 3-4th.

To be honest, from the diary of programdude and others, the internal femur with Precice2 seems dreadful. I would consider Guichet or Betz it they did not live across an ocean and require clicking.

I thought that you meant you were the same profession as Dr. Shah.

Are you serious? Dr. Shah is asami certified and trained by Dr. Paley himself.
