My starting height was 166 (at night). So, a little over 5'5". For me, 5'8" (which I'm pretty sure I am now) is all I ever wanted. I have many other things going for me, and no longer feel that my height cancels them all out.

LOL! What's your job?

My title says IT Engineer but basically im just the IT help support guy in a small office. Im pretty young just got out of college, no student loans, and saving for this expensive bull  among other things. Literally half the crap here gets done really quick. As long as everything is functioning fine and everyone is honky doory i get to basically do what i want.

When in doubt with a problem in IT...Google it...

College was somewhat pointless but whatever i got my cool piece of paper.

Yeah it really blows how expensive LL is. Guichet was like 35%-40% of my cash savings. I still have a pretty solid cash savings for my age (not to mention a pretty nice retirement fund), but while I have zero debt, I don't own property.

My next project after I'm walking again is to start a new job search to help recoup faster some of what I lost on this ridiculously expensive surgery.

im not sure how much you have in savings but im guessing its a quite bit of sum. I would personally invest in stock currently frontier communications (FTR growing faster than atnt and pays a 5% dividend annually) would be my go 2 stock along with Dave n Busters (PLAY doubled in stock just this past year since launched IPO and they continue to shell out more locations that make good profit).

Currently i have just starting to save (after i booked a trip to cancun next week and got a pretty big tax refund) but im trying to build enough assets to invest in SPOTIFY if it launches this year or next year into an IPO. I honestly believe its going to make BANK.

i should honestly be rich right now as my dad had 350k in stock investments but ignored me when i told him to invest in amazon ($26 a share) and netflix ($10 ending 2009-2010). Instead he kept dumping money into airline and bank stocks until you know 2008 crash happend >.> He currently has 100k in investments and still wont listen...instead telling me to go be my own man and make my own money (cant really blame him) so im like whatever okay (stubborn old bastard lol). If he listened though.... man oh man...one can only dream though lol.

I don't invest in individual names, as I just don't have the time to follow news on them, earnings ratios, etc. So I just have my investment fund that's a fund of funds (and mostly domestic and foreign equities, since I'm still young). With what I earn, after expenses, I'm able to save about $2K a month as long as I'm smart about what I spend. That's how I was able to afford this surgery (though, I'm somewhat older than you). Others were like "dude, go buy a Mercedes instead," but I never cared about material stuff (Except, maybe, a house someday). I just wanted to be taller. Sucks to be a LOT poorer (and have to push back comfortably being able to buy property), but I had to do this.

Hope your stock picks work out for ya man!

agreed material stuff i dont really have a care for but knowing i can change my height? hmmm But honestly I also have the issue of if i had 52k to do internal with lets say birkhotlz should i wait another year and try to grow that investment or deplete my assets and get the surgery over with. The sooner the better. I have no clue though what i will do life is 2 unpredictable and interesting to have it all planned out.

If I were you, I'd do it as soon as you can comfortably afford it. I wish I had known about this when I was a few years younger (your age). You'll have more years to enjoy your new height and recoup what you spent.

I wasted almost a year going back and forth "am I really doing LL or not," and was in this horrible limbo. I didn't want to blow that kind of money (even though sitting in the bank, it wasn't making me happy), I didn't want the pain...but there was no way I could get the idea out of my mind, so I eventually changed my plans from doing it near where I live, and just did it in Europe last minute with Dr. Guichet. I think once I'm walking without crutches (hopefully within the next 2-3 weeks?) I'll be very happy with my decision.

I feel like we should create a separate thread for this since were so off topic now lmao. whatever but yeah im not sure about you but im comfortable with my height to the point where i can delay it if i know i can make my entire life better. Like having a good portion of money for a house, having a good amount of money to continually invest and play with, plus getting an enjoyable remote job where i can work from home. ( that way i can do LL and be getting paid as well, one of the nice things about being in the IT field).

Currently i want to do internals femurs first (5cm) as soon as i can so that will get me to 5'7 and than later on do tibias 4cm and get to 5'8.5 Im really hoping by the time i do tibias they find a better way to do internals without fking with your knees paternal tendon or whatever the   makes it hurt.

I got paid the whole time I was out :)

My life was pretty good beforehand, but my height neurosis had gotten really bad (in part, thanks to these forums, which are a mixed blessing in a way). If you think you may be able to get over your height issues, maybe you should get off the forums before it's too late. I wish I had been able to do that. I had a lot going for me already, but I just felt I needed to do this. And I'm not blaming the forums. My height had always been an issue...for me, the straw that broke the camel's back (in large part) was a bad breakup I went through. I realized that I was staying with this (very attractive) woman for years (even though she wasn't right for me) because I didn't think I could get other hot girls. And even though I proved myself wrong after we broke up, I still just couldn't shake this feeling that every hot girl I dated/hooked up with was "doing me a favor."

I guess its understandable to do LL at 176 to 180 (I would have done LL even in Singapore if I am 176 .. maybe not 178).

But who are the two idiots who are 196 and above, and wanna do LL?!

Only thing I'm thinking is that maybe they've always dreamed of playing professional basketball. Even then, though, 196 cm is 6'5, and Michael Jordan was 6'6 (198 cm).

There are a few good basketballers at 180-190 range: Jeremy lin (1.9),  steve nash (1.9), chris paul (1.83), allen Iverson  (1.83), Dwayne Wade (spelling?at 193)

Height is not really important if you play semi-pro, or recreationally... skill, judgment and physique is more important. it is easy to see a 1.8 guy beating a 2 m dude at 1 v1 basketball, just by agility alone.

anyway nba players inflate their height 2 cm (basketball shoes). they are measured with shoes on.
