Timetable for LON or LATN
« on: January 22, 2015, 03:58:49 AM »

How long does Lon or Latn take? I read somewhere that it takes about 2-3 months until one can walk unaided again with the nails inside you. Is this true? That's seems awfully quick.

Oh, and if anyone knows, how long does it take for one to return to exercising (squats and dead lifts) after about 7 cm on the tibias after Lon or Latn?

You can walk pretty much immediately after the 2nd surgery to lock the nails.  I saw a guy do it on the day of his surgery.  The nails will support your body weight.  However, it's best to let the titanium screws fuse to the bone before walking.  Depending on how much you lengthen and how much your legs have atrophied, you may have balance issues for a while though.  That was the case for me, so it's hard to tell.  Your results may and probably will vary.

As soon as your balance is recovered you can resume lifting weights.  But ask the doctor about the weight limits on the nails.

How long after the initial surgery is the second one to lock the nails?
