Unless you stretch for 6 hours per day according to this study: https://ispub.com/IJOS/16/1/7368

"The primary preventive measures against equinus contractures include physical therapy, splinting, and extension of the tibial frame across the ankle joint. It has been shown that stretching exercises do not lead to prevention of contracture unless they can be maintained for at least six hours per day. Most patients would probably not exercise their muscles to that extent."

If you get your tibias lengthened you should probably insist on getting your ankles locked. What do you think?

Yeah, I thought the heel fixation they did on me in Beijing was helpful.  Despite doing 7.5cm, keeping my legs bent the whole time, and not doing much PT/stretching, I turned out all right.

love threse studies... since when I used to say stretching doesnt really help,   all i heard was I'm wrong... etc etc

Stretching is overrated.... some people will get equinus no matter what, and depending on the severity, might require surgery

In Beijing it's a half-ring attached at the heel.  It's part of the frame.
