Stunted growth and leg lengthening?
« on: December 24, 2014, 10:05:38 PM »

For those whom don't know, precocious puberty, or early puberty, stunted my growth from 6'2 to 5'6. All of my growth charts, parental height models, etc. pointed towards a final height of 6'2, but early puberty had me reach my adult height at 12-13 years old. I'm wondering if my legs could warrant 20 cm of lengthening in terms of eventually recovering pre-op function, as I read that precocious puberty patients have muscular and nervous tissues that can sustain significant more lengthening than the average ll patient. Does anyone know anything about precocious puberty sufferers and leg lengthening?

no... you will not tolerate 20 cm

i'm sure it can be done... but 20 cm is very extreme .....would take years to even start to sort of  mimic the functionality you once had.... if ever

Do the 14cm . That is virtually 6ft tall. No shame at all in that. Its a very good height for a man.

Six feet is the best height to attract the very largest array of women. From as short as you want to 5ft 10.

Dude, you do not want 20 CM. Especially since you are always posting about wanting to maintain strength.

You would look ridiculous with that much lengthening no matter how thick you got your legs. You must spend too much time on the misc if you are that set on 6 2 bro. The 8 and 6 split is probably fine, but may still look weird. I think it would barely work for me and I was 5 8 to start.

Imo, 13 cm is the very max anyone should do with combined lengthenings.

6 cm tibs
7 cm femurs

In terms of sitting height compared to total height, I actually need lengthen between 15-19 cm to reach the average ratio of 0.51-0.52. I otherwise have a very large frame--proportions are in no way a problem.

I am simply referring to function. After all, Androplasiac dwarves, limb-length discrepancy sufferers, and others can lengthen 20 cm without lose of function due to the fact that their muscular and nervous tissues are different than that of the average person's.

I am asking if my nervous and muscular tissues are similiar because I was genetically meant to be the height of 6'2, but my growth was otherwise severely stunted through precocious puberty.

I doubt that you'll have it easier than any other normal guy on here simply because of early puberty.  I think it is crazy to even consider that much.  I am a similar size as you.  The most I will do is 13-14 cms.  When I compare myself to natural 6 footers, most of them have longer arms, bigger sitting heights, etc.  did you see the videos of SysOp?  He did 20 cms.  It doesn't look good.

Damn, you must be really pissed that you never reached your genetic height. What happened apart from early puberty? Did you eat/do activities that prevented your growth?

No, I actually lived a very healthy lifestyle. I grew up in a middle class family with never any food shortages. I was actually quite a health nut growing up. I never touched drugs--other than marijuana once in my senior year of high school.

That's why I'm so concerned on whether it is at all possible to reach my natural height.

I actually have a larger and wider frame than most 6'0+ dudes. My sitting height is about that for a 6'0-6'2 man. I'm not so sure about my arm length, though.

I can't tell if you are someone who is just here for speculation/fantasy or seriously considering the op, but if you are serious you really should re evaluate your goals.

8 Cm on femurs and 6 cm on tibia is already a LARGE gain, regardless of what the forums might have someone think. At Paley's very few actually get the full 8 for a plethora of reasons. I do not think life after 20 CM would be something most would view as acceptable.

Right now, I'm at the speculation stage. I'm not going to be set on anything until I see a doctor, but I would ideally like to get 14-15 cm.

However, I am curious to see if precocious puberty could lend itself to a larger gain in height.

ReadRothbard your proportions seem to be interesting but we'd have to see some pictures to make a fair recommendation -why don't you post some? Just make sure to cover your face and take it at a proper angle.

20CM is probably too much for your body to handle but don't give up just yet. You might do 6+6CM and see how you feel, and who knows? By that time there might be some more humane way to bring you closer to your dream height of 188-9.

That's what I wanna do: my dream goal is 191-2CM but that is unrealstic with todays technology and my current proportions so I'd rather park at 186 or 188 for a few years and see how I feel. Best case scenario is that in a decade or so I can safely increase my height with another 4-5CM and also lenghten my arms and clavicles.
Even if not I'd be happy at 186.

I'm in the same boat as upland. Go with 6 and 6 which will bring you to 5'11" and see how you feel then. You may luck out an make it to 6'1".

I have big shoulders and arms for my height also but if I added 20cms and got to 6'2" I would look much different than a natural 6'2" guy.  I think 5'10" to 5'11" is a good height and very doable proportion wise for me.  People talk about limits such as, it's ok to have a height over your wingspan up to 10 cms.  I think those limits are mostly bull .  My wingspan is 176.  I would not look right at 186.  But some people might be able to pull it off.

The 10cm over wingspan being fine is BS. Most of these guys wanting to do big lengthening's are very new to the forums and are ignorant. Having spoken to many LL vets at the old forum and those that came over e.g craig49 they said the MAX over wingspan is 5 cm. The overwhelming number of doctors recommend lengthening 15% of original bone length however those threads get buried over time and new guys come on talking huge gains. Simply put unless you have freaky proportions originally that is a long torso, long arms, large hands with similarly large head and feet but for some reason you have tiny legs then massive gains are possible. Otherwise you will look weird coupled with a very long recovery time and compromised athletic abilities.

I disagree. I think the 10cm  over wingspan isnt the end of the world. Its stretching it there is no doubt but you are not a T Rex.

I am 171cm and my 'wingspan is 176. I feel fine going to 185. That is 9 over. Its not ideal but liveable.

I have similar stats to you just with a slightly larger wingspan at 178cm. It is very uncommon to find guys who naturally have a wingspan 10cm shorter
than their height. Most men have a longer wingspan than their height. If you feel fine going over by that amount it is your body.

I think 10cms is doable but probably not the best idea for most people.  It's a trade-off though.  If height is that important then forget about  wingspan.

I think 10cms is doable but probably not the best idea for most people.  It's a trade-off though.  If height is that important then forget about  wingspan.

This is the key. I have been thinking heavily about Leg Lengthening since the summer of 2013 when I joined old forum . That is a suffient amount of time to look at every single possible angle .

If I have 176 wingspan I am supposed to stop at 176? Lengthen 5 cms in total? Two inches? Break my legs and go through all the money, travel pain and rehab for freaking 2 inches? What a waste of time.

The bio-mechanical workings of your legs involve a specific ratio of femurs to tibias. Upsetting that balance by doing one segment only is not a very good option for anyone. I know several guys have done this but its not my long term choice.

Whatever I lengthen my tibias I will also lengthen my femurs. This 5cm over your wingspan is better than 10cm . However there is no magic formula . Most men have more wingspan than height. So once we go down this road we are throwing that all out the window too. It all depends on how much.

I know I will have short arms. Maybe folks will notice. Maybe not. I am certain they wont whip out a tape measure and brow beat me over it or mock me behind my back because my legs are a little too big for me.

The 9cm difference is only 4.5 cms each arm. Two inches. If I have to I will get two inches added to my humerous' but I dont think it will be necessary.

I think being 185cm is important to me. I can live with the 182.5 (6ft)which is only 6.5 cm short but what difference will that make? I am going for 6ft 1  :)

Me neither actually I don't know why but 185CM seems like the shotest "proper" height for a man. At 179CM I feel more like a teenager among Swedish men -like I need one last spurt to propel me into adulthood.

-Anyway someone spoke about wingspan but like I said time and again -it's not that important. What matters is the lengh of your arms. Yes width is important if you wanna go for more than 10CM but arm lenght is still the major limiting factor in proportions.

It looks like you can handle 14 cms of lengthening but your arms are starting to look short at that height.  But 183 is a good height.  Go for it.

Yeah, I think I could do 4 cm lengthening per humerus. That could be a pretty fast recovery, as arms seem to recover faster than legs.

This is me with about 7 cm of lengthening per segment.

Impressive you handle that amount very well, the only issue is you arm lenght which seems to miss 6-7CM. If you lenghten your arms 4CM you'd look quite normal.
Think your proportions are pretty good for LL my own body starts to look very thin at around 190CM -although unlike you I have plenty of room to "fill out".
