When can you walk unaided?
« on: December 17, 2014, 12:32:57 PM »

I did external tibia. Ilizarov frames.

I heard some patients take 1.5 months before they can walk unaided, and that is very slowly?

Is this true?

Can someone shed some light?

Thanks!

I can walk about 1-2 metres now only. My legs feel like breaking!

 I have lengthened 5 mm.

At 3 mm lengthening, I can walk quite far :(

When can I walk without aid again?

I think what Halj means is that if you look at this page you have made the majority of the topics and it comes across as if you did not do research before operation.

You might consider consolidating questions into one thread that you have.

reality check. you have 2 broken legs. so it should feel like your legs are broken because they are. lol

Let this be a lesson to not plunge into such things with such little research.

But its done so relax and focus. You have broken legs, what did you expect?

Lol calm down, man. You're in good hands with Dr. Bagirov. If you listen to him, you should come out of this fine. Now, the rule of thumb is about 1 month per cm before you get back to normal (sometimes it is about 1.5 months per cm, but if you are a health adult, it should be closer to about 1 month per cm). If you lengthen about 6 cm, it should be approximately six months before you are completely back to normal in terms of walking and, if you are lucky, some slow jogging. You could return to training your body to walk unaided at maybe the four month mark post-op, which should be when there is sufficient callous formation.

But, really, you should as Dr. Bagirov himself.

Congrats Itsmylife!  You have taken the gold crown from Leechlet for the whiniest bitch of LL Forum.

Just kidding. :D  I have to respect anyone who commits to doing anything as crazy as LL.

Just be careful when walking.  You don't want to fall and hurt your vagina :)
