Safest way to split 10cm
« on: December 09, 2014, 01:35:45 PM »

I'm lengthening 10cm overall external tibia internal femur, what is the safest way to achieve most athletic ability possible? 4+6? 4.5+5.5? 5+5? Any other numbers? Thanks

4,5+5,5 should be fine but really any of those combinations would work.

Are you sure your proportions can handle 10CM?

I like 4.5 and 5.5 myself.  Wish I could've afforded that instead of having to do it all on one segment.

Don't do 2 operations, just do either 6cm tibia or 7cm femur. And then wear some lifts, two operations are way too hard to handle.

I was the same as you, I thought 6cm is nothing. But trust me when I tell that 6cm is a lot. More than enough. And if you still are unhappy you can still go for the second one.

Yes 6-8CM is much more than you think. I know people that are 8CM taller than me and I feel like they tower over me, they also look huge.

I value my athletic ability so its either 1 small operation or 2 small ones. My sitting height is 93.6cm and starting height is 175.4cm. I also have long arms with wide shoulders. I'm going to do tibias first and see if I want to lengthen more, I will stick to the amount as if I was doing 2 operations in case I do want more and as mentioned earlier athletic ability.

It's not a small operation mate it's either a hard invasive surgery with associated risks or a dangerous major surgery that you might never recover from sorry to say. If you keep below 5-6CM in each segment you should manage and you might just recover fully. How do you know your arms are long though, have you measured them?

I trust you two my friends (123 and upland).
Last month i was very greedy for 9.5 cm on femur
Then many diaries realized me not over beyond 8 cm for greater recovey.
But 8 cm on femur is not good for femur proportion when compare with own tibia
Andrew schizzle not have a good propotion femur/tibia .
Blackbear from old forum  also have long femur even he also lengthend his tibia when he did deadlift in video it was very obvious that he has very  long femurs

then i am going to realistic amount femur not over than 6 cm (5-6 is enough) and then plan did for tibia 4.5-5 cm

In case i will consult with dr paley about which methods (maybe now not only for precice )then my aiming goal is 177.5+5.5+4.5
.i think it greater recovry than 8 cm only femur(precice) .and femur and tibia still in good function

My plan 1st day do femur
Then 21th do tibia
It use only 70 days from start to complete 10 cm ,shorter time and stronger bone(less lengthend) .
I see many evidence from dr dong hoon lee youtube
He has many patients that did both femur and tibia and could run with12 months ,loads of video there.
This is all my opinion

Tibias can handle up to 7 cm safely, and the femurs can handle 8 cm. A five by five cm split should work fine.

Well that's me as well (although my penis is hardly impressive when flaccid) and I have put a definitive cap at an 8CM increase unless I choose to also lenghten my arms. I don't think arm lenght should be taken lightly, long legs are normal -some people have them but almost no one has noticeably short arms.

After my tibias I will see how they look I guess. I think I'll ask the doctor this and see how I feel while I'm lengthening to know whether to stop or not.

Dr bagirov told me 8 cm tibia, and 4 cm femur.

I think they only do external femurs, so the limit is about 5 cm.

so, perhaps for you, 7 cm tibia and 3 cm femur?

Hey ,pals
Dont be greedy .
Im very care all off you
Im the one who want more 8 cm per section at first
It doesnt realistic
It is very hard to get fully recovery
Just accept that 5+5 or5.5+5.5
It is the best all you can do

This rate is the best for athlete rocovery
And also still propirtion(not too bad)

My proportions are actually good for about eight inches, but I think I'm still going to do 7 cm tibias, 8 cm femurs.

It seems like doctors have a disagreement on this one. Some doctors, like Bagirov, say that 8 cm can be done on the tibias, and that the femurs don't tolerate lengthening well. Others, such as Dr. Paley, say that the femurs can actually tolerate about 8 cm of lengthening, while the tibias can only tolerate 6.5-7 cm.

I'm not so sure whom to believe.

Well it's generally true that the longer the pre-op length of the limb, the more you can distract before hitting complications. Being naturally longer, I think it would make sense that the femurs should be able to tolerate more lengthening provided internals are used.

That makes sense. The rule of thumb for lengthening seems to be about 20% the length of the limb, or perhaps a little more or less depending on the patient.
