I think I might have been ripped off.

Thr contract says to pay 420,000 roubles

I paid 7500 euro. According to russian banks it amount to 501,000.0 roubles.

Anna said she will return me the change.

Which means I will get back about 81,000 roubles

Now they wanna vary the contract

They got someone to speak to me and Anna doesn't even dare to see me for the past two days

She is very curt and business like, not friendly at all.

I have spoken what I have to say. I hope I will be safe

Be careful with that, just let them keep that money, it's not much. Don't risk worse treatment for some money, I bet they could get really pissed about that.

if you let them rip you off now they will do it a lot more.

rolling over to a predator does not stop it from feeding on you.

it might be that they were always going to stop giving painkiller as easily after x number of days from the operation.

also your description of tingles as ants on your leg intrigues me, I did monorail so I never got any symptoms like that, but is it normal for the ants on your leg feeling? what could be the cause for this?

Not tingles, ants eating into your bone, pain is 8-9/10.

Epidural works only for 3-4 hours

And I'm nt given any oral painkillers

Did you guys take paracetamol for any runway pain?

I never got any oral pain killers, only intravenous pain killers for the first week.

ants eating into the bone sounds scary and painful. ask your doctor why this is happening.

just remember the pain at the beginning will pass, especially after the first week. just hang in there, focus on the end goal here. the pain is temporary, height is forever.

They don't give you any oral painkillers!!!

It is sooooooo painful!!!!! 8/10 pain!!

The epidural can only be given every 3-4 hours!

Once it wears off, it is HELL!!!!!!!

JESUS CHRIST.

God save me!

I should have brought my OWN PAINKILLERS?!!

I brought Paracetamol with Codeine , 4 tablets, it doesnt' help!

And I am taking all this behind their back.

They are insane. This is bad bad bad bad pain.

how does anyone deal with all this nonsense??!

IT IS SO FREAKING FREAKING PAINFUL.

THIS IS NOT AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

This is disturbing. I had IV and oral painkillers during my first few days.
Do not overdose on Paracetamol, 4 tablets at once is too much and it seems that it's not having much effect!
You should instantly get hold of another doctor to prescribe you oral painkillers if your current doctor does not.

I agree, you deserve better pain control.
Where is Dr. Bagirov? Have you talk to him about your lack of pain control?
I hope you start feeling better.

I just had my final epidural injection.

The pain is now gone.

BUT, the pain will come back again in 2-3 hours.

I try to endure, but I can't. It is severe, like 8 out of 10, many ants eating into my legs.

I do not know how I can survive like this.

I asked for oral painkillers but was rejected.

They said they will inject me intramuscularly.

Sigh, can't I have both intramuscular and oral painkillers???

The pain control is NOT ENOUGH.

This is the first few days.  I just had major trauma. I need some pain control.

I can walk, yes. I walk 20 minutes a day, yes.

I walk with pain, yes.

But I cannot lie down and have 8/10 pain, when the epidural runs out!

This is insanity. For this reason, I do not recommend this clinic, unless you can bring your own pain-killers.

Just imagine, I have paracetamol with codeine which I took secretly (my last dose) and the pain is still 8/10. If I do not have this medicine, my pain will be 9.5/10!

What did you except? LL is painful, they just broke your bones and drilled a lot of holes in it, of course it will hurt. Just ask for stronger pain meds.

Surprisingly, little pain.

well im glad you found the probable cause. but that is a seriously sux balls situation, to get such a rare side effect at the start of this long journey.

at least you now look at this surgery in a more serious light. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Yes! without this problem, I would have thought it was  a walk in the park.

it is now many hours since catheter removal, and I don't need to have any injections.

my pain level now is 1 or 2/10.

Update:

I had intramuscular injection at about 3 AM, when the pain started kicking in, intensity was about 5/10.

The pain stopped totally after IM injection.

The pain came back slowly from 5 AM. So, I popped two paracetamol-codeine pills.

Yes, they are now working, but the pain is around 5 or 6/10. Trying to cope with it.

My body is probably getting used to all this nonsense pain already.

Really, I would whole-heartedly recommend this Russian clinic, if not for the totally inadequate pain management.

I WILL DO MY WORK when I am on pain control. Its not like I will turn lazy. When they did inject me with morphine one time yesterday ( the pain will be gone only 2 hours), I did still walk around and do my stuff.

My question is: Does anyone have such bad experiences with pain for the first few days post-op? When did the pain start to get better? Please help as I am scouring the net for information. I realise only that Chinese and other patients don't feel pain. Russian patients will feel pain, mostly.

Sorry, can't give you any advice with regards to physical pain. I remember when they ask me if I feel any pain, I said, no.

But hang in there. I heard the pain is the worst within a few days after the operation. After that everything will settle down and you will start lengthening.

But reading your diary thus far, I doubt you have the audacity to make it to 8cm. Don't give yourself excuse and give up at 3-4cm! It will be a waste of money and effort.

Goodluck bro! I will visit Singapore along with Vietnam in January.

Today, either the pain is less, or I am getting used to the constant pain of 5 or 6/10.

I hope, at least, taking less painkillers is better for me.

how often can one get the intramuscular injections? I don't even know what they are.

I think more than 4 hours have passed since my last intramuscular painkiller shot.

The pain is getting more bearable.

First, the intensity is less (usually 3 or 4 out of 10)

Second, even when sometimes the pain is more intense (eg, 5 or 6/10), my mind has somehow resigned to the fate. Ie, the pain is just treated as being there. It's there. yes, but its not as unpleasant as before. Kinda conditioned and used to this pain.

All in all, the third day is a great improvement.

I think so!

The worst is probably over.

Now the pain is mostly 1/10 or 2/10. Sometimes it gets to 5/10.

That's about all.

A Russian girl just did her illizarov surgery for tibia and she is next door. Two days post-op! :)

We were like smiling at each other and I shook my head, all this pain! For the height, haha!

It  has been six hours since my last intramuscular injection.

I am trying to avoid getting more injections. Let my body get used to the pain.

3rd day post op, and my last IV painkiller injection is more than 10 hours ago.

I am still on nothing but Paracetamol painkiller (that I brought myself!)

Pain scale: 2/10, transient.

Each day it just gets so much better.

Today, I feel much less pain and discomfort.

I am now post-op Day Four.

Yes, I could walk on the day of the surgery and Post-op day One and I could stand without a walker also.

Yes I could move about on my own quite early on.

But all that was so so so painful. Limb movement results in a pain of scale 7 to 8/10.

For the first few days, as I mentioned, the constant pain was killing me. I don't mind having 7 to 8/10 temporary pain when I am walking or moving my limb. I CANNOT STAND continuous and persistent pain that is there for hours at a time.

Thankfully such persistent pain is gone now, probably what is left is 2/10 discomfort and weird feelings.

I now have weird jerks at my RIGHT side above my knee. Is this nerve impingement? The muscle would contract involuntarily at times. Not painful, but weird! I hope I am fine. I wonder which doctor does the right leg? Dr Fahri or Dr Bagirov?

But both legs are actually fine, just that my LEFT leg doesn't have the weird jerks/contractions. I am hoping all this is merely due to the nerve being pressurised by the swelling.

Doctor parihna (spelling?) of India said that if everything is placed properly the pain shouldn't be that much. Considering I had so much pain for first few days, I really hope everything is placed properly!

The nurses are pretty helpful. Sometimes they are busy and take a very long time to respond but mostly its Okay and they are human too. Its just that, they aren't big fans of pain medicines. Really. It sucks. It was god-send to have a medical officer to get morphine injected into me on day two I think. Felt great for 2 hours. Haha! But when dr fahri heard of it, he was horrified!

I have some bruising, similar to crimsontide, but maybe not as bad as him. I did not notice it until I read his posts.

Now I realise that past members posting is really good for you to be able to Compare your progress.

I think, all things equal, I am doing pretty well :D No issues with the frame tightness like crimsontide, though I must admit it does feel a little tight (ie, you can sometimes feel things going thru' your skin?? is this normal?)

Sensations on my legs are coming back. Which can be good or bad....... Ie, I can feel itching and I can feel a wide range of sensations on my calf dermis.

I cannot wait to lengthen tomorrow!

I was wondering if it is possible to go outside to walk today or tomorrow? I really want to. I feel like I can die staying in this room the whole day and only walking to shower and urine (and trust me, walking.... is so painful.)

I am now on my post-op day four. It is 12.30 PM in the afternoon.

I am doing very well.

Walking is almost painless now.

I can stand for 10 minutes at a time brushing my teeth and washing my face. I was able to do this the past few days but it was quite uncomfortable.

Today, I feel more comfortable in the frames.

I am sorry my diary is pretty clinical and boring. Haha. But I wanna give back to the community and also see if any questions I have here can be addressed.

Sleep is good, as they give you painkillers before you sleep. I did not reject them last night.

Now my only worry is the pain when distraction begins.

I am now in a state of equilibrium. My legs are very good.

Once I start turning, I am afraid it might be a total different story.

Dorsiflexion is good, and I am able to confidently walk, more than yesterday.

Swelling wise, I do not notice any difference, but there was not much swelling to begin with. No visible ankle edema noted.

I am now so excited, and now with the physical part settled, the mental part is anguishing. Staying in a hospital yourself. This would be really hell if the nurses were horrible, but thankfully they are nice.

My questions for Doctor Fahri

1) On post op day four, can I walk outside? Staying in the hospital is boring!

2) If I heal well, can I extend at 0.75 mm every day as with other patients?

3) Do I x-ray tomorrow? (Day 5)

4) Can you teach me the exercises I can do now to prevent equinus? I need to play sports next time.

5) Can I do abdominal crunches in bed?

6)Do I really have to eat 6000 calories a day? Can I eat less? Worried about getting fat!
