Minimum, Optimal and Maximum height that would make you happy
« on: November 22, 2018, 02:49:57 PM »

What is the minimum height, optimal height and maximum height as a male or female that would make you happy.

For me (male): 5'9, 6'0, 6'1 - I think I would look weird any taller.

Mogcels need not reply.

Male: 5'8, 5'9, 5'10

My short torso only allows me to go 5'8, I could go for 5'9 thanks to my wingspan but that would be risky and I would maybe need 2 surgeries for that, or do 8-9cm on a single surgery.

Can you elaborate on what do you mean by optimal? Is that taking into account our proportions, or just how we feel about it?

Yes I do want to add, before doing this surgery, ask yourself if you have optimized your life to the fullest extent possible (job/career, personality, etc).

I meant optimal to you - whatever your considerations which may well include proportions.

5'10, 6, 6'2

tho i cant get to 6'2 even if i wanted to due to fked up proportions and also i dont want to scream "surguries" at ppl's faces.
anyways 5'11-6 is so much above average where im from and it will keep me proportionate in arms, head and torso so i'l be fully content after cll.

6'0-6'1 is probably the best I could do because I'd hate to have a negative ape index and my old man is around that range. I never thought I'd wind up so much shorter than him. Now I'd be happy being 6'0-6'1 and all, but being 6'5-6'7 would kick ass, I'd tower over my dad and I'd probably be a few inches shorter than my cousin.

I’d do anything to be 188cm tall naturally.

I am 182cm morning 180cm night (around 5'11). I think perfect male height is around 190cm or 6'2-6'3 and if I had the money to go with Paley I would consider LL to be around 188cm morning and 186cm night.

Minimum: an amount that gets me through this surgery without leaving as dire permanent effects, speaking in terms of hip and knee pain, stamina, increased risk of blood clots, etc. Sadly, it's almost impossible to find a diary where the patient went for the doctor's recommendation of only lengthening 10% of their initial bone length, and also kept writing to report back to us on how their recovery went, years after the whole process was finished. I'm just happy I can even increase my height.

Optimal: still unsure.

Maximum: 180cm/5'11. I don't want to stand out. 180cm would let me be considered average-ish even in the tallest countries of the world.

Sounds wise.  What's your current height if you don't mind me asking - I am 5'6 (169 cm).

I can't help it, I come from a family of giants. Don't worry, I understand my 95-96cm torso isn't long enough to pull it off, my arms are way too short and I'd probably become a cripple attempting 6'7+.

I know its hard to get an accurate measurement of tibia/femur without getting a scan, but I think I'll be pretty close to 10% on both. Since I'm 5'8.5 and I wanna stay within my wingspan's range I'm only attempting 6'0/183cm and maybe a little more to be safe which will put me at about 12% for both tibia/femur. I'm only considering going slightly over 6'0/183cm to avoid any possible shrinkage from knocking me out of my ideal height. When I did the math I got 2.1 inches or 5.334cm for my femur and 1.92 inches or 4.8768cm for my tibias which will keep me as close as possible to the 10% initial bone length as humanly possible while reaching my goal. Hopefully this will be enough to avoid as many permanent effects of this procedure as possible.

Ideal is 6’2. Happy if I get to 5’10, really not about to kill myself. My arm span is 5’11 so think would look more proportional after ll.

Isn't a 95-96cm a lot for someone of your height? Too lazy to go look up that Dutch study.

I do have a feeling that the sons of tall parents, who ended up short, always tend to have bigger torsos and wingspans, like in your case, based on posts I've read from users of this website.

Yes it is, I have a 78cm inseam at 173-174cm, its pretty insane. After LL it'll be around 88-89cm. My current inseam ratio is around 44.82%, with LL it'll be 48.36% which isn't too bad. I've heard African Americans tend to have longer limbs too so it's probably even worse in my case. Also please post that dutch study I'd love to see it.

Yep, that's the one. The main study we reference around here for sitting height, despite the fact it is from the tallest nation in the world.

I'm not too crazy about proportions, so I haven't measured mine yet. I just know they vary widely. I have the exact same sitting height as this 6'1 guy I know, but he's of Sub-Saharan African ancestry.

Seriously? When you get the chance can you tell me your sitting height? my 5'11 friend has a longer torso than me and my 6'1-6'2 friend is also longer both are African American.

I doubt my sitting height is specially tall; it's more likely this guy's is specially short. He's all legs, like Conan O' Brien, who's 6'4.

Compare the first 10 seconds of the clip in this timestamp.

I'd love to know conan's inseam. It's pretty insane to see that the average inseam to height ratio in the dutch study is over 51% for men. These people have some long legs, this must be typical for taller people.

Okay, that really puts this into perspective. Thanks for pics, Damn, I wonder if my 200cm+ cousin is still super leggy he was 17 the last time I saw him. he's 20-21 now so he should be around 210-220cm at least.
