Dynamization in pure external tibia
« on: August 03, 2024, 05:03:31 PM »

I've heard that before the frame removal in pure external tibia method, the dynamization needs to be done a month earlier. This is the process where they unload the partial weight bearing from frames in order for a patient to load more weight onto the bones for adaptation.

Is there a possibility of height loss during that process?

If there is at least 90% callus formation then no.
I didn't lose even 1mm while I used monorails which were not even weightbearing. But I started walking when my callus was almost fully consolidated.

I'm going to do this with full-ring Ilizarov frames with hexapod correction. When will I able to weight bear unassisted? Since they are strong frames unlike monorails, I think it won't bend if I start walking without crutches after 3-4 months of surgery.

Do you think its possible that I can start driving my car after LON frame removal? if not, when can I start driving again once the LON frame is removed from tibia after lengthening of 4.5cm?
