Clean vs smashed osteotomy
« on: May 08, 2024, 09:17:40 AM »

Some docs literally hammer the bone and smash it rather than making perfect, clean cuts.

Is there any difference in terms of bone union speed between the two methods?

Obviously yes. If the osteotomy is broken as a butterfly fracture, bone union is more than normal. But you cannot make butterfly fracture on purpose because it's dangerous.
