Tibia or once more femur?
« on: October 24, 2023, 09:01:09 PM »

I did 6 cms on femur in 2019 using stryde, now that max is coming I want to do either 6 cm more on femur or 5 cm more on tibia. My current proportion is not out of whack it looks normal, maybe thinking of proportion everybody is saying do 5 on tibia rather than 6 more on femur but I have heard lots of things regarding tibia ll, femur ll went smooth for me so why not do 6 more on femur? also I can wear shorts with femur but with tibia some scars will be visible, please weigh in with your inputs, thanks.

Why would you undergo this procedure again? Why would you even consider doing the procedure on the very same bones? If I were you I won't do the surgery again, let alone the same bones. But is your body, I would go for tibias.

Anyone advicing you to do femurs again is straight up lying and you should avoid it.

Besides the excruciating pain and loneliness (from being bedridden) that I experienced, the huge money spent, and the scars, I don't see anything else that made it so bad for me that I don't want to do it again, yes it was difficult but looking back I would do again, that difficult phase passes eventually. I enjoyed walking with a walker and getting sympathy from people,  LOL, I also lost weight while doing physical therapy, because otherwise, I am a very lazy person. People do surgery twice on same bone, even Paley does it.

I guess the risky part of your logic is that you assume because your first 6 cm surgery on femur went well, that rebreaking it, and doing it again for another 6 cm will yield the same results.

But you would be stretching the soft tissue (muscles, nerves, IT band etc.) another 6 cm to a total of 12 cm. That along with shortening your tibia to femur ratio further which could affect bio mechanics.

As an example when you squat the pressure on your knees will increase a lot from the lengthened femur bone. Now, for a normal lengthening amount of 6 cm this might not be noticable too much in day to day activity but at 12 cm it could do so. This is just one example of how lengthening one segment affects bio mechanics. There will be many more.

Very good input, makes sense. These kind of inputs will help me make the final decision (tibia or additional femur), thanks.
