First off, I salute you and hope this post help you out. I'm writing this post in hopes members, lurkers and people looking for info get a better insight and an objetive opinion and analisys on LL as a procedure.
Why I'm writing this, you may ask..
Well there is a huge problem in the LL community pushed by misinformation promoted on social media (specially for Turkish butchers, wannabetaller, livelifetaller,) there is a campaing and advertisments that are causing a lot of confusion on their target audience and I strongly believe we need to contribute to stop it. These people, and some others are pushing their ads for LL as is it were a regular cosmetic surgery, like "hey do you want to be 15cm taller, come with us, chill and done" IT IS NOT LIKE THAT.
1- LIMB LENGHTENING IS NOT A REGULAR COSMETIC PROCEDURE
Hear me out, and pay attention DO NOT FALL FOR THE SOCIAL MEDIA SCAM ON LL. Limb Lenghtening is an extremely demanding surgery on your body, there is POTENTIAL RISKS that could literally end your life or you could get crippled. That's the cold hearted truth. Is not a game, is not a cosmetic surgery for your eyebrows, you will need years of your life committed to fully recover, YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY.
2.DO NOT DO THIS FOR "DATING"
I know how it feels, I know how bad you wish you were taller to get more girls, I know the feeling, I truly do BUT THAT SHOULD NOT BE YOUR ONLY REASON TO DO THIS. There is this misconception widely spread (and backed with studies) that taller people automatically have better chances in life, and that's true in some degree.. Hear me out, I'm not denying that taller people generally have better social life and dating life but do you realise how are we in this short lines focusing on them and not in US (which is what REALLY matters). There are billions of people in this world, if we will endure this extreme surgery solely based on what they think (dating) we will have a lot problems since your mindset MUST BE STRONG and 100% focused on you. You need to understand this; you are doing this for you, to improve your mental health, and to feel good with your very own self. Let the social/dates left for another time..
3.RECOVERY PHASE IS SLOW.
Turkish butchers in their social media use this poor victims as cattle to show and advertise to the world how fast they "heal". NO, IS NOT LIKE THAT no need to say that you should avoid anybody promoting this like that. Recovery from this is not how social media portray it, it's a long process and you can't rush things because you are not a car engine, your body needs time and therapy for a LONG TIME to fully recover. Is not like you will recover in a couple of months and that's it.
4.BE REALIST
"Hey I'm 1.68cm can I increase to 1.85?" it's a common question you see in social media, well... no you can not. DRILL THIS IN YOUR HEAD, safety comes first. Period. You could hipotetically get like 20cm in a quadrilateral surgery but you will end up in a weelchair for the rest of your life...More centimeters is more danger, simple. Be reasonable, understand the basics of your anatomy and in the case you will take your shot GO FOR THE SAFE PARAMETERS.
5.GO TO MENTAL THERAPY BEFORE AND AFTER
I know, is cheesy, cringy and sometimes embarassing... But it works. It really does, there are people who do not need this procedure. If you are a 5'11" person, and you feel short or your mental health is severely damaged for your self-perception there is a big chance you can fix yourself going to therapy. There are narratives pushed on social media that makes people who are even taller than average to feel insecure even though they are tall. Don't fall for it, now if you are one of those rare cases that even been taller that average you feel extreme anguish and your therapist give you the green light that's ok too! . Body dismorphya is real at any height. So don't judge our taller mates.
I would like to add more, but I think this is (for now) enough. Feel free to ask, or reply! Cheers
