Time between two surgeries

I'm planning on doing both femurs and tibias. As far as I know it's not recommended to do second surgery right after you've done your first. What's considered the ideal waiting time before another surgery? Is it a year, two years, or more?

How long does it take to deal with the complications if they arise before you proceed to have second surgery?

Soonest is 6 months, or when your first set of bones are 90% healed. If you time it correctly, it is possible to remove your first set of nails and put in the new ones for your other set of bones the same operation.

Start with doing 7-8 cm on femurs and then see if you want more height. According to many surgeons most patients are satisfied afterwards unless you starting height is really short.

If you're 100% certain you're gonna do both, you might as well do them together (a few weeks apart, but same recovery period). Doing it one after the other is recovered, is like putting your life on hold for 2 years.

But the bang for your buck is to just get 8 cm femur and call it a day

You can do the other one month after the first one when your body heals from the first one. Or you can do the second one just after you are done with the lengthening process of the first segment. You can also wait until the first segment fully consolidates. It depends on how much your body can take an how much you want to maximise lengthening. I went with the first option and did the femurs one month after the tibia surgery. Waiting out till tibias lengthened (3 more weeks) might have been better. The second surgery halts lengthening/recovery/strething of the first segment if done on the lengthening stage. It made it more difficult to maximise my tibia length

My understanding is some doctors do it sooner while others longer in between time between the 2 surgeries.

I did over 12cm on femurs. I clicked from 02/2023 to 07/2023.
