Discrepancy between x-ray and real life cm
« on: August 13, 2023, 05:42:12 PM »

Hey
Has anyone experienced a difference between the gain in cm seen in x-rays and actual height gain?
Mine shows 3.5-3.7 cm in the measured gap in x-rays but actually it feels like less..having hard time to measure height accurately at the moment, because of posture issues... But still for now it doesn't feel like almost 4 cm gain...
I figured that the gap in bone measured on x-rays may not translate into actual height gain, if the soft tissues doesn't comply so much with bone lengthened. But I'm just theorizing...

X-rays progress while spreading out radially, thus enlarging the X-ray image beyond its actual size.
The magnification rate varies depending on the imaging method, but it is usually a few percent.
