Public Service Announcement: Scar Camofluage
« on: July 29, 2023, 04:11:22 PM »

I felt I should make a PSA on the amazing technologies that the world has to offer to those left with nasty scars post nail/fixator removal. Clearly most of us have a desire to be perceived in a near perfect light and/or we don't want to discuss a surgery that is so needed yet viewed negatively by  society (IRONIC)! That being said, there is an excellent and impressive way that you can disguise and permanently remove the battle wounds of your surgery with Parkway Esthetics !

Of course traditional makeup is useful but if you're looking for something more permanent there is a Tattoo/Laser/Skin Center in Las Vegas, USA. As opposed to traditional laser removal you can tattoo over the scars with customized skin pigment blends that camouflage and dissolve the scars appearance. With Parkway Esthetics the pricing is fixed no matter the number of sessions and is dependent on the size.

The Studio is very modern and they are working on building out their website but you can see their work and book a consultation at Parkway Esthetics on Instagram and TikTok. They mainly work on tummy-tuck scars and mastectomy scarring but all scars are welcome no matter the color, size, origin.

I'm not a consultant for them or getting compensated for writing this I just want to spread the word for LL Veterans or those planning a surgery who are nervous about lasting scars, that laser isn't the only option, and this technique is in some cases much more effective. Check them out yourself!

Scars are so minimal that they don't even really pose a problem.  If someone MUST be concerned about scarring...do yourself a favor and just use TCA (trichloracetic acid).  It's used all over the dermatological world for peels and such.  I'd say go for 20% to 30% strength.  It is very easy to use yourself at home, and there are 100's of Youtube tutorial videos about it.  It's cheap and very effective.  But don't put that strength on your face, face-treatment is totally different than the type of skin on the hip, leg region.  Check it out.

My scars are bigger than I'd like them to be. I haven't really thought about tattooing over them though.. mine aren't really fading away so I might look into that and get a consult next time I'm in Vegas. I'm curious what happens if they do fade after you get the tattoo.. will the color not match the rest of your skin? :o

Edit: I probably won't bother for the two pairs near the hip, but the one near the knee would be very nice to hide. I don't imagine it would cost more than the $2500 I spent on laser treatments that didn't help all that much.
