I understand life is tough. however I already assumed you wont grow. and my opinion is still the same. you should not get LL until you are 18 years old. finish high school first.

tell your parents you are going to get it done after high school. and nothing they say will change your mind. the only question is when you will get it done.

until you are 18 keep learning on this forum, I am sure a lot of things will be learnt and new cheap professional doctors found in the next 2 years.

LL is not a decision for a kid. it is a decision that could end you up in a wheel chair for the rest of your life. if your under 18 you have no business or ability to make such a decision.

Do the surgery while you are still growing. Very effective.

Who cares to wait until 18..what for. It only sounds mature and safe to say that. But the thing is trust me on this. That the day you hit 18 you wanna go clubbing not begin your journey to become taller

Also my main concerns were that which type of doctor can I assist to convince my parents about this procedure? And about the girl thing, tall women do date short men its all on the man hitting right on the spot but height doesnt make a difference... unless it is a whole feet which is what I am trying to Avoid. Being 5'6-7" could bring me some advantage alreay

First off, you probably won't even have the money until you are 18, anyways (unless your parents want to pay for it). As for the doctors, that can be tricky. Most doctors aren't going to recommend leg lengthening for cosmetic reasons. You could reference them to Dr. Paley, Dr. Guichet, Dr. Betz, etc. if you were to do a consultation with them.

If I were you, I'd probably do about six inches (15 cm) of lengthening altogether--say, about 3 inches on tibias and 3 inches on femurs. If you do that and bulk up some, you'll have a tremendous increase in social respect and status. If your proportions warrant it, you are very fit, and you are willing to put up with some time and pain, you might be able to do 8 inches altogether, but that would only be if your doctor gives you the go ahead. Some people can do 4 inches per segment, but it certainly isn't for the faint of heart.

Just do that first surgery for 7.5 and the chances for you doing another surgery is 40%.

readrothbard had the best suggestion for your original question littlewhiteman.

take 1 of your parents to the consultation with an extremely reputable doctor.

choose the parent most partial to being swayed into agreeing.

my suggestion would be to take 1 parent only. but if you want you can take both.

No thats not what I meant, I am not going to pay 3000 dollars on a trip + another 1000 dollars just to give my parents AN ADVICE AND RECOMMENDATION from a doctor who is on the other side of the world... that is just stupid as hell! I tried to mean someone locally, like which is the best type of doctor in my city who could advice my parents about LL or convince them. Probably an orthopedic, psychiatrist i don't know... but please don't be serious with that of go personally with the surgeons to DISCUSS with them. Well probably if I was rich and/or older it would be great but my father hates me so much already for asking him for money for all my necessities already... he does have the money though he is just miser with me.

I don't think you understand why I said that.

unless you see a reputable LL doctor, no doctor will EVER BE ABLE TO SWAY YOUR PARRENTS.

in fact they will probably all call you mental and insecure together (doctor + parents).

the more prominent the doctor the more experience the doctor will have had in swaying people into thinking LL is a worthwhile solution and that people who are short do get discriminated against.

that would be your only chance to legitimize this to your parents.

normal doctors don't understand, and the more prominent the doctor the better he will be able to convince your parents.

yes I know its a waste of money, but you asked how you can sway your parents.

and I don't think you have a chance in hell at changing your parents mind with a normal doctor.

Oh sorry yes I got you know... I actually experienced that with my endrocrinologist. After finalizing my HGH treatment he said that I wasn't going to be able yo grow anymore, if much 2 CM which quite depressed me and I was in front of my father and I asked him about LL and he told me that that was a completely absurd idea that it wasn't even safe... he told me to stick living my life being short and happy. fk off that guy was like 6'2" tall it is easy for him to say such babler.

Sorry guys I was too desperate and stressed out yesterday... it actually stresses me out to see people complaining about their height when they are pretty much normal and yet want to be taller... I am shorter than average and won't mind being short average. Everywhere I go small sizes don't even fit me, and I hate how tall persons catalogize short men as 5'7" and so... as well I have been struggling with my emotions and irl issues such as school and family and friends... and even my job. I just don't know what to do with my life that's it.

Get grow hormone therapy. You are 16 and probably can grow with that. Told this to your parents

its all good. we all get stressed out from time to time.

at least now you know that you have LL as an option. imagine if you were 5"1 and had no idea about LL.

all you need to do is save 15K and then you will be able to get surgery for external tibia.

if your parents really don't want to fund you. try asking if they will go half. im sure 7.5K is an amount they would lend you.

I think the 10 cm is considered the maximum safe limit for subjectively-short dudes. The nail can go much higher, apparently. As for the elastic limit, I think that muscles, nerves, etc. engage in hyperplasia (production of new cells) after a certain length.

At 5ft1  he has good reasons to convince LL Doctors to push for 4 inches on femurs +3 inch on Tibia which would make him 5ft8.     Whether he can handle the recovery, time and money is another question.

Muscles do produce new sarcomeres to adapt to the new length. Muscle fibres also seem to stretch as well. Here is a good study about muscle adaptation http://iprmd.org/downloads/publications/boakes/muscle_adaptation.pdf.

The risk of contractures becomes much higher once 10-15% elastic limit has been passed http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3364349/
Quote from the article:
"No wonder that the clinical challenges of muscle distraction and subsequent decrease of adjacent joint range of motion go in parallel with the amount of lengthening. This is reflected by histological changes after lengthening of more than 30 % of its original length [22, 116–119], as the whole muscle from origin to insertion is stretched [81]. The elastic limit of stretched muscles (strength–strain curve) is 10–15 % of the length at rest. Excessive stretch leads to plastic deformation and subsequent contractures, which commonly affect muscles spanning two joints (rectus femoris, hamstrings)."

Unfortunately nerves cannot produce new cells but only stretch thus cause nerve pain when lengthening too much and/or too fast.

Lengthening +8cm is possible per segment, provided he does rigorous PT everyday.

Do you have any idea if contractures may be avoided when passing 7.5 cm with aggressive daily PT, like that that Dr. Guichet prescribes?

It depends on the individual such as original femur/tibia length, muscle elasticity, nerve tightness etc..
PT should help in preventing contractures. But from my experience, muscle tightness does catch up and inevitably cause contractures with excessive lengthening. Fortunately I do not have any contractures but only muscle tightness. Physio can be a torture to loosen up the tight muscles. Physio would be very painful and demanding if a person has contractures.
It would be best if you ask Dr.Guichet's patients about his aggressive PT and its effectiveness.

I'll add to the 5'7 crowd. Got a friend who is 171 cm  and he is popular all around and get's laid like a boss even though he is almost 12 cm below the average where I live.

He's quite a looker though and an exellent dancer so that might help. Might be tough to dance after lenghtening that much tough.

Lol I love being 5'7; I think it is near the perfect height. However, society doesn't think so, so I'm going to need some ll in order to get the chicks.
