Precise 2.2, 1.5mm lengthening per day/using walker?
« on: September 22, 2022, 05:27:31 AM »

First of All I want to say hello to everyone. Finally I made the decision to do the surgery and im on Day 4 now for lengthening. Because of my good bone health (according to doctor) I can do 1.5mm everyday. Im pretty unsure about this, can I still do 1mm or its to risky because of pre consolidation? Did someone ever got pre consolidation by lengthening 1mm per day? Its indeed truth that I have a fast recovery (second day after surgery I was pretty in good shape) but still 1.5mm sounds to much.

Also I got 12.5mm nail and I can use Walker for walking. But I dont want to bend the nail and I read here that you have to "hop" with walker instead of walking like a normal Person. Can someone Show me how to walk/hop with a walker and how to use it properly?

Sorry for my Bad englisch. I will shortly post my while experience of this surgerpy

Its in Turkey. I dont want to say names but if someone is interested they can write me Private. Everything fine, pain Level is low and Im feeling good. But I think its also because of internal method instead of LON Femur which is common used In Turkey.

Im just worried about lengthening 1.5mm per Day and walking with a walker, everything else is pretty relaxed.

Im trying to not use walker because im so scared to bench the nail but sometimes I need to. Atleast its 12.5mm nail

please don’t lengthen faster than 1mm per day. More than that will cause joint stiffness and nerve irritation, and poor bone formation.

try not too walk too much on precice.

It’s ok to stand and take a few steps as long as you don’t put more than 75lbs of weight on each leg at each step.

Dr. Assayag, thank you so much for your post.

How much do load limits change with 10.7mm or 8.5mm nails?
