LON Femur Dr. Mustafa Uysal from AFA
« on: March 03, 2022, 10:07:35 PM »

Hi everyone!

In 3 weeks (22.03.2022), I will do Femur LON with Dr. Mustafa Uysal in Instambul. Im very excited for that

I chose Dr. Uysal AFA, because after consulting some doctors I find that their team seems to be good in all the context be the best option: center for rehabilitation, full attention, doctor with experience, fast reply from the team (at least before I started, hope it continue), from all the explanations seems to be make sense, etc
Furthermore, and most, I did an extensively research, and all the reviews from this doctor were excellent, contrary to other options that I've seen.
In case you want to find more informations about, their website is: https://afacosmeticsurgery.com/

As for LON Femur, I chose LON because has an affordable cost, and a fast recovery time, Im aware that should be very painful, but Im prepared for that.

I will be updating my experience here, hope it can be useful for you. I also created an Instagram account, so I will be posting pictures, videos about the process, so those interested this is the account: https://www.instagram.com/ll.patient/

Hi,

Congratulations on taking the first step! I've heard some pretty good things on the AFA team through this forum as I'm considering AFA as one of my options. May I ask why you specifically chose Dr. Uysal as your surgeon as opposed to Dr. Inan? Do you know if your surgeon specializes more on the Femurs or Tibias? Thank you for your kind attention and your reply will be much appreciated.

Hi AsianCyborg,

Actually at first I just contacted them to gather information and soon they assigned to Uysal, then I researched about him and see the very positive reviews. I dont know their criteria for that, maybe one doctor is more specialised in one thing, other in another, as you suggested.

But I think Inan is also very experienced and good, from what I saw about him

Hello everyone, yesterday I did my surgery, and the doctor said that was very successful!!!

The AFA team picked me up at the airport 2 weeks ago, because i wanted to visit and enjoy Istanbul. I even had a coffee together with an assistant of AFA, the one who use their whatsapp account, which is a very nice person, as all the people who work for AFA that I knew so far. He provided more informations about the surgery and lengthening.

2 days ago, I did my consultation and by the x-ray the doctor said that my bones are good for do this surgery. However, my muscles are not so good because he said that are very strong, thus they are stiff. Nevertheless,  also not so bad, because I was stretching them almost everyday in the last 3 months. He said that I should be able to length 8 cm, but he will be doing tests to see if the soft tissues are ok. There are some signals that show that I cant length more, otherwise I have risk of not recovering my physical ability. From one side I am concern to length less than 8cm, but from other side it shows that the doctor really take care of my health. I know that many doctors push beyond what is safe for the patient.

Yesterday, I did the surgery, and the doctor Uysal said that was very successful, was perfect for me. By the way, he also said that my bones are very strong (which I dont know if its good or not, but I think it is good). After the surgery I came back to my room, and AFA provided a person to take care of me and do everything that I need 24h per day, which is also a very nice person, I thought this excellent because I dont need to be calling and waiting nurses whenever I need something. He will stay with me in the 10 days that I will stay in the hospital.

Soon after the surgery, I woke up in my room and felt a lot of pain in the knees, which the nurses said that is normal to have, later, I felt also in the legs, but it was reduced after a time due to pain killers. They said that the most people sleep almost all day after surgery, however, unfortunately I couldnt sleep because of the pain, painkillers reduced but I still feel some pain. Even now that is 7 o'clock I couldnt sleep well, at maximum very superficials sleeps, like I was in the middle term between sleeping and awakening. However the most important is that the surgery was successful, I am excited to length my legs!

Just to remember, I am posting photos in the stories of my Instagram account, that I created for my LL journey. Who wants to see it just follow me there!

Just to update, the 2 following days were very hard, first I had a problem in my stomach, probably due to medicines and I had nausea, vomited and had diarrhea.

Besides that, I started to walk with a help of a device, but feeling a lot of pain in the left knee, next times that I walked the pain reduced and it was easier, despite I still have a lot of pain the left knee when walking, and it concerned me a lot. If werent the pain in the left knee, I would walk much easier and painless. I also started to do physiotherapy sections, its a bit painful also, but I think that not so bad.

Thats it, indeed the LON femur is being more painful than I expected and was prepared for, but I didnt regretted of my chose. People here say that first days are the worse, and then things become better, hope its true

Update:

Now is 7th day after surgery

The pain in the left knee while walking reduced a lot, and I am able to walk good distance. Now what is honestly the most painful part is bending the knee of right leg in physiotherapy sections, but I understand its important to push hard on this, to regain flexibility back.

Other than that, overall Im not feeling pain when Im not exercising, so for example, I can sleep very well.

I started to length today, so officially I am already taller than before surgery :)

The doctor is visiting me everyday to know how is going, take doubts and give instructions, and so far the AFA team is also being very attentive and helping me whenever needed.

Hi, congrats on the surgery. Do you have any photos or xrays for us? What is the appointment schedule with the doctor? Is it every month or more frequent?

I've been on this forum for over two years, unfortunately you see people like you again and again. Create a fake account, impersonate patients to arouse the interest of others. The creation date of your account says a lot

I've been researching the individual doctors worldwide for a long time, especially in Turkey,

This company Afa is not registered in the Turkish healthcare sector and is not allowed to cooperate with patients or doctors. The company works illegally, which can be seen from the fact that the website is blocked in Turkey. These companies give patients big discounts if they show their face/story publicly.

Unfortunately, this is not about professionalism or the health of the patient. It's all about making money at the expense of patients and their health.

Dr Mustafa Uysal has very little experience in limb lengthening surgeries.

Before you read and believe in a diary of a supposed patient, you should do your own research and do your research.

You should follow the instagram instead of saying is fake, I am posting photos and videos

Its very disrespectful to say that a Diary is fake without even wanting to give a look on it. I am in a hard process, and reporting that, which I hope it encourage others, its not cool  see someone saying its fake????

I dont know if you represent another company and wants to discredit others patients that are not doing with your, but again, it is disrespectful, and you should at least try to give a look before accusing as fake

For those that are in doubt, just send me a message on IG that I can send a live photo or video proving.

Hi all, I will give an update about my situation, since passed a time:

Today I completed 1cm lengthening. Things arent ideal, but pain situation is much better. Overall, I feel some pain in left leg while walking or sitting, many times preceded by a "click" sound, but nothing as strong as I was having in knee first days, so Im glad for that.

I had also some "restless" and discomfort in leg (funny enough below the knee area, where Im not lenghtening) and this though not painful is very annoying, I guessed that I would have for all lenghtening period and this scaried me, but good that today I didnt have, so maybe it passed.

Im doing phisioterapy every day 2 hours per day, and though the first sections were also painful, its becoming ok, and I would say even nice, as I do some exercises and interact with other people. My flexibility is improving a lot, and I know I would need a lot of that for the end of the lengthening, so Im putting some effort there.

Thats it, I will keep you updated in the following days

After a time I would like to update my situation. I am almost reaching the 2cm lengthening, and did new X-raxs. The recovery is good, new callus forming, so everything fine on there (I will post the link here)

Other than that, Im almost not feeling pain, in rare situations, like sometimes I wake up with a little bit pain, but not so much, not needing pain killers (I only take paracetamol before PT). Im also have muuuch more mobility, so simple things that last week take an eternity to do, like get out or get in of the bed, walk until the elevator, or go to the bathroom, now Im doing much faster. I think that PT is being great for me. So overall after the really hard first days, things now are relatively good. I hope that it stays like this until the end of the lengthening (Im aware last cm can be very painful, but ok)

Here the pictures of my X-rays

3cm reached!

A quick update, Im not feeling pain, when I feel its very rare, mild and pass fast. No painkillers used at all. Mobility much better, other day I walked long time going to shop. Thigs like sit, stand, move in general much faster and easier.

Im going hard on PT and I think its doing very good for recovery. Hope I can have a smooth process until at least close to the end

Today I took x-rays. In theory I should have lenghtened 0.4cm, but in practise was 0.38cm. Unfortunately, less than expected. I will post the results here

As for pain, during day barely any pain, however I cant stay with my legs straightened for long time, and I feel my foot and shin some strange sensation, that become worse with time. So I need to bend and it pass. (I dont know if its some kind of nerve pain)
So, when Im sleeping Im waking up oftentimes, with this kind of pain, bend the knee for a time, and then go back to sleep

Im in doubt here if I should during day try to get the legs straight for maximum period possible to try to adapt my body for it, or avoid so I dont over stretch my nerves and they relax a bit (in case its really nerves)

As for the results of the x-rays are here:

5cm achieved!

Things became much harder now. I have difficulty to stretch the legs, but I still can, its important that I be able to stretch it, and the PT team, that is very good, is already aware of it and will work it.

Night is absurdly hard to sleep because very strong knee pain when I dont move, its hard to sleep and if I can I wake up all time, so my last nights were really bad. Im putting ice on knee during day, and now started to pass voltaren cream in the knee, hope it pass.

During day Im starting to feel some pain, something that wasnt happening until a week ago.

Im still resistance to use painkillers, because Im allergic to NSAIDs, so I would need to use opioid, and I dont want to get used to opioids now, and then the effect doesnt be so strong in the last cm. So Im not using now, and waiting for 6.5 or 7cm to start to take tramadol.

Im seeing that probably Ill have very hard 4 weeks, I appreciate whoever can transmit good energy for me

Something that I would like to talk also, I was going to a place more distant to solve something, and of course I had my difficulties. A lot of people int he street cared and really tried to help me. This is one thing that make me more happy, goodness in people trying to help seeing my difficulty. Of course they didnt understand that was a cosmetical procedure, probably though it was a hard accident.

This process can be depressed, reading other diaries you should see that this is very frequently mentioned, and I can understand perfectly why, some little things can make your humour much better. One thing that makes my day better, is always the Phisioterapy because I talk to people there while doing stretching and exercises, and also last times Im calling someone from my family just to talk, if someone is reading and doing the process I advice do the same, the humour get better

6cm achieved!

Some things happening. First, pain in some nights became completely unbearable up to the point that I was screaming with pain, I stopped lenghtened for 2 days and then continued. I found an anti-inflammatory that I could take, and AFA provided me, started to take and pain became much better. I still have pain in night, but is not something terrible, its acceptable, specially because Im reaching last cm and still not taking opioids

Other than that, out of nowhere I lost mobility in leg, not being able to stretch completely without some force on it. Dr. evaluated and said to me to decrease lengthening rate, and that he might need to stop my lengthening at 7cm, otherwise I could risk have mobility problems after LL, and is not worth the risk. Also, to work a lot in the PT, so the PT guys are already working hard this, I hope I get better
