Has your country seen a massive uptick of LL interest?
« on: May 10, 2022, 03:35:56 AM »

South Korea has seen some massive interest in LL in the past 3 years with hundreds or even thousands of people doing LL every year, but even 5 years ago nobody seem to have known there was a surgery for increasing their height. For example let's see the next available surgery date for the "big 3" surgeons in Korea:

Dr. Lee Dong Hoon: Probably everyone knows him since he has a huge social media presence. There's no exact number but he probably has done 1000s of cosmetic LL surgeries. His next available LL surgery is 5/1/2024 ( yes he has 2 years worth of LL already scheduled ), but if you look at his personal forum 3 years ago his average wait time would have been few months.

Dr. Lim Chang Moo: He has done over 3,900 cosmetic limb lengthening surgery and considered the most experienced in Korea. He is considered to be the 2nd choice for South Koreans before Dr. Lee. His next available appointment is December 2022 ( 6-7 months wait time ). His past patients describe his hospital a LL factory because he does a lot of surgery ( one source says 2-3 per surgery day ).

Dr. Ju Hwan Chung: He's the least popular of the three but he has lot of cases under his belt ( near 1000 probably ). He's most notable for having special events and discounts. His wait time is about the same as Dr. Lim.

There are lot of other unnamed clinics that do LL as well, but they are not very known and don't really specialize in cosmetic LL surgery. In fact the only known case of death after cosmetic LL in Korea was from a hospital that didn't specialize in LL and didn't treat the patient with the standard DVT prevention protocols.

True, but still even outside of Korea places like Japan and China seem to be have a significantly increasing LLers. There's a lot of JP LL bloggers in twitter ( many going as groups to do quad lengthening at Turkey/Armenia ). China not many diaries since cosmetic LL is banned in China but I hear they mostly go to Turkey/Korea/NA.

It's in our best interests to keep awareness low by ensuring that misinformation stays high.

There's only so many doctors and with such strong increasing demand I'm afraid prices are going to shoot through the roof.

At least in its western part, CLL in Europe is still unheard of by most people.

http://www.dary.co.kr/ <--- Dr. Lim who has 3900+ confirmed cosmetic LL surgery

https://limblengtheningsurgery.org/surgery-cost/ <-- Dr. Ju

I am pretty sure Dr. Ju accept foreign patients since that's his official foreigner website, but I am not sure about Dr. Lim ( I am pretty sure he does too ).

1000+ or 3000+ CLL surgeries, that's a big number. You know some well-known doctors on this forum, some of them have done only a small number of CLLs (like 100-300). I have always believed that the number of operations is an important factor in evaluating a doctor. Some senior Korean experts have not even been mentioned in this forum. I think that they may mainly provide medical services for the Korean market.
There are more people doing CLL in South Korea. One advantage is that this industry is mature, with high safety and professionalism. I am very envious of you on this point.

You shouldn't really. If a person has money/time it doesn't matter which country you are at. Even in Korea 95% of "forum wanderers" won't get the procedure because of money/time and just ask the same " Is the surgery safe " or " is it possible to lengthen 15cm?"  then devolve into " this will definitely cause arthritis and knee pain in 20 years so you shouldn't get it ".

I would say 70-80% of Dr. Lee's patients are native Koreans though although many come from China/Japan ( not many White Americans/Europeans/Indians/Middle-easten - they mostly go to Germany, America, Turkey, Russia, or India ).

There are still concerns about LL that may cause knee pain in 20 years despite some of the LL surgeries are safe?

Ofc LL is still an extremely invasive surgery so there are always risks but lot of people decide that the benefits far outweigh the risk. Even common elective surgeries like LASIK can lead to life altering complications.
