4+4 twice with Paley thoughts
« on: June 07, 2021, 07:48:57 PM »

Proportions aside, is 4+4 twice safe? Assuming you did 4 cm femurs, then once that’s done do 4cm tibias, then wait a year and rebreak femurs for another 4cm then after rebreak tibias for another 4cm. 16cm total. It sounds pretty safe and in a video with cyborg 4 life he said it’s a really good option. Thoughts?

Most people will never want to go back to rebreak, despite grandoise plans to do so. Ask the Paley team how many people actually come back for the rebreak vs. those who are happy with the initial 2 surgeries and move on with life. The proof is in the pudding.

I totally agree, but that’s perfectly fine cuz proportions are better than doing it twice plus it would still put me at 6’0 after 4 and 4 so I probably wouldn’t wanna do it again

Proportions are a great reason to do both if that is your goal and not incumbered by the cost  :)

The problem is that you are still lengthening soft tissue 8 cm in total on both segments which is an extreme amount for Tibia's.

Kind of dumb to spend so much extra rehabilitation time and 100k+ for one inch. Just do 8cm femurs in one go and tibias 5.5-6cm and call it a day.

It's very unlikely you would go back to do the rebreak. It sounds good in theory but once your legs are broken and you complete one lengthening, the last thing you want to do is go back for more. I would recommend doing 7-8cm in the femurs and calling it a day.

My proportions look a milllllion times better with 4 and 4 rather than 8 on femurs. That is my issue. Literally 8 on femurs looks bad and 4 and 4 looks decent

I am also contemplating on it. I am willing to do rebreaking as well.
I know some ppl here are thinking rebreak as a laughing stock cuz they think nearly nobody is not reluctant to go back home after doing quadrilateral surgeries and rebreaking is just nearly a fairy tale but I am hating myself and 8-10cm cannot save my life cuz I am only 162cm.
I'd rather have AIDS than being short so I think this Option can make a lot of senses for me and height is driving me crazy so much and I hate this world and my height so much like stinky st. So If you are glad to, DM me to communicate with me!

I see you are referring to option 5 here
https://limblengthening.org/lengthening-strategies/
$275,000 for the 16cm (8cm femurs + 8cm tibias) you mentioned
16cm = 6.30 inch

Better option would be option 4
$201,500 for 13cm (8cm femurs + 5cm tibias) and no rebreaking of bones
13cm = 5.12 inch

Also, 5cm for tibias is far more safer than 8cm. With +8cm tibias, you'll get major arthritis pain at the knees. And remember, the average tibia is 80% of the length of the femur, so +8cm tibias is overboard.

Option 4 gives you 5.12 inch for the best safety. If +5.12 inches will not satisfy you, then it's unlikely anything will satisfy you. Plus is paying over $70k for a little more than one inch really worth it when you can gain 5.12 inches with option 4?

I have read that Tibias not being at 0.8 to femurs leads to higher rate of arthritis but have not heard that overall length was an issue. Are you saying that 8cm tibia is the problem or that it will ruin your ratio even if you do 8cm femurs as well?

The tibia:femur ratio that determines risk of arthritis is the new tibia length to the original femur length. If you lengthen the femurs, that will add even more stress to the knees and hips.

Dr. Paley is an extremely conservative doctor, as well as the best LL surgeon on the planet. If he is advertising it, then I wouldn't have major concerns about the safety of it.

Your first sentence makes sense. I don't understand how lengthening femurs adds more stress to hips and knees though, could you explain further?

Leg muscles are interconnected to each other. The muscles around the femurs connect below to the muscles around the tibias and above to the hip muscles.

I felt my calves and hip muscles get higher as I lengthened the femurs. When I reached the 6cm mark on the femurs, I started developing a small case of ballerina foot that is prevalent for tibia lengtheners.

That was the simple summary I meant to say.
