In and Out in 3 months?
« on: January 09, 2022, 05:07:20 AM »

If i do only 5.5cm femur precise 2 that means it will take 55 days to lengthen. Then, another 55 day for recovery and consolidate. Total period is 3 to 4 month. Is this possible and will I walk carrying a normal gait after ?

I think so. Just make sure you talk to your surgeon before and after

Things don't always go as planned.  It may take longer.

Add 5 days to the lengthening phase, because you start lengthening on day 5 after surgery. You will likely be in and out in 4 months (not 3 months). But when you start walking independently after 4 months, you will walk slowly, carefully, and awkwardly. Another 1 or 2 more months and your walking gait should be mostly normalized, though with a lower end (5.5cm femur) it should be one more month.

I would do Gnail or Betzbone, as precice will take a bit longer due to the lack of weight bearing.

5,5cm is a perfect number, you are a wise guy. People who go beyond that for cosmetic reasons are fools, including me(this does not apply on people who have a starting height of below 160cm). If you only do 5,5cm(wich again is a great idea) you will most likely recover very fast.

I'm really not a believer in these magic numbers. These things are entirely dependent on the individual when they start the lengthening process. Some people can do 10 cm and fully recover; some can only do 5 cm and spend years trying to get back to where they were. It's not black and white.

The more I read the more I want to do 5.5-6cm in femur. Safety goes first.
