Similarity between ACL reconstruction and LL surgery recoveries?
« on: December 22, 2021, 03:59:29 AM »

I am getting ACL reconstructive surgery in February, and the doctor explained that it would be about 3 months until I can light squatting and deadlifting, with at least another 3 months to recover my lifting strength (up to a year for hard sports). It got me thinking: could I view this as kind of a “trial” for LL surgery in terms of PT and recovery? Has anyone here gotten ACL repair done, and if so, how does it compare to LL recovery?

I have had ACL and I think it doesn't even come close to LL in terms of experience. The most prominent difference is that ACL is done on one leg and you can get back "normal" activities like walking and going out very fast.

How would it compare to, say, a double acl reconstruction?

ACL could cause one to lose athleticism for good.

Fortunately, my orthopedist says I’m very likely to get all my athleticism (especially strength) back, since I’m young, healthy, and my legs are very strong from lifting. Let’s hope the same is the case when I go under the knife for LL.
