Hi there,
As the title suggests, I've been wondering if it would be OK to criticize a surgeon's work and make demands accordingly. What I mean by that is, after taking a look at a bunch of X-rays belonging to the patients of this particular doctor and researching extensively I might have found some "flaws" in his work. For example, this particular doctor prefers to insert the distal syndesmotic screw in a tricortical position, instead of a quadricortical one. But, according to this research paper:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1877056814001650, it is recommended to use quadricortical positioning with a slight tilt in tibial lengthenings and leave it there until the fibula consolidates. The question here is, If I ask him to insert the distal syndesmotic screw in a quadricortical position instead of a tricortical one and upon removing the fixtaor ask him not to take the screw out, would he be open to that, or would such a request actually upset him or even make him feel kinda offended?! I would really appreiatce your opinions on this matter, because one can argue that I should avoid such a doctor who doesn't know the "right" techniques to avoid possible complications.
Thank you in advance
