Reasoning behind diminished athletic recovery
« on: August 22, 2021, 01:00:26 PM »

Hello,

The consensus here seems to be that you’ll never be the athlete you were pre LL. I’m wondering if this is due to your body having different mechanics now that your legs are longer or if it’s linked to weakened muscle and ligaments? Or is it a mental thing? ie you know you’ve had two broken legs and major surgery so you should take it easy.

There could be many reasons to this, but I'm confident that LL, one day, will become a very safe surgery as scientific research progresses. That means everyone who has height neurosis or who are having troubles going out to socialize with can still grow taller even after done growing. However, there is a concern, what if athletes also choose this surgery to make them appear taller so they can easily outperform their competitors at many sporting events, such as Olympic. Would that be acceptable to the sports?

If you stick to a conservative length like 5-7cm, you should have no problem returning to sports. In fact, LL surgeons love atheletes because you guys train hard.

Nevertheless, you will have 3 major incisions on each leg, and significantly lengthened soft tissues. From most LL veterans I've talked to, they still experience some muscle tightness years after the procedure, especially if they went above 7cm.

If you're below 30, and are lengthening conversatively. You can return to near 100%.

Just the first two.

Exactly.
Nothing mental, just the pure reality. Mechanics, stretched and less flexible muscles and for many some pains or slight malunions are more than enough to be worse than preLL.

If we go by logic, our body is designed to work with the tendons, bones and muscles that we developed by genetics, by lengthening we are modifying what our body developed for us and clearly this implies that as we grow some muscles, tendons and others, will weaken and it will simply be very difficult to be at 100% of what we were before.

If u got talents in tendons, muscles, nerves and orthopaedic injuries restoring, then u can have confidence in perfect recovery, which 99% LLers can't be so lucky to have got such talents.
