im at hospital right now. im having "emergency" surgery to get out Stryde.
We dont know if its corrosion but i will know after x ray in few minutes.

Doc said they are calling all Stryde patients with short notice because if corrosions get into blood stream, it may become dangerous.

Results
At the time of reporting, eight patients (13 implants) had completed lengthening. Osteolysis and periosteal reaction at the junction of the telescopic nail was evident in nine implants. Five patients experienced localized pain and swelling. Macroscopic appearances following retrieval were consistent with corrosion at the telescopic junction. Tissue histology was consistent with effects of focal metallic wear debris.

Conclusion
From our early experience with this implant we have found the process of lengthening to be accurate and reliable with good regenerate formation and consolidation. Proposed advantages of early load bearing and the ability for bilateral lengthening are promising. We have, however, encountered concerning clinical and radiological findings in several patients. We have elected to discontinue its use to allow further investigation into the retrieved implants and patient outcomes from users internationally.

i am 2y 2months post op.
I would have taken this out last year if it hadnt been for the pandemic.

anyway. Im having surgery tomorrow to get the nails out. I havent had any noticable pain. I was just starting to play sports right before the pandemic hit and everything went into lockdown. After lockdown i had a bit regression with some stiffness around hip area, but as soon as I went out of a long walk it was okay again. I am looking forward to remove the hardware, there was this Telegram LL channel. If anyone still there, please PM with invite as i cant get into my original account.

When I heard Stryde was doing a recall I went the Ortho Fix way, Fitbone and it worked out well.  All went very well and even did some unintentional weight bearing though I can't recommend that with no complications.

Dr Debiparshad showed me and a prospective patient some rods he had removed from someone.  Stryde nails I mean.  There was very little corrosion but around where the nail extended there was a small circle of rust.  He said even most patients who were told about the rust said that if they were given the option, they’d risk the corrosion.  Personally I am happy to use precise 2.2.
