Is LL a sin?
« on: April 22, 2021, 05:45:19 PM »

Altering a physically complete and working body part into a less functional body part. Do u think its inherently sinful? While i am very thankful that my limbs all normal, there appears to be a psychological void that i cant be complete as a person until I get a bit taller, to mature into a full adult. What are your religious views on this?

God should've not given 5% of the population a height so low that they developed neurosis and felt that they needed to break their bones. Nothing wrong with being short- but time and time again shows that a sizeable percent of the population of short men get depressed and self-conscious over their height- why the fk would God just not make men NOT be 5'2 and be juvenilized in life and become insecure for such a stupid reason? Makes no sense.

God should've not given babies terminal cancer. What did the baby do? Tell me where the baby sinned. Babies can't even speak. They did 0 wrong- literally zero. Yet the baby was punished. Step into a St. Judes Hospital and you will wonder why God would create immense suffering to completely innocent people and their families. All in the name of God? You're kidding right? Explain how that baby hooked to intravenous opioids due to terminal bone cancer with his bone piercing his skin 24/7 and in immense pain, explain how this baby suffering further's God's mission and His word. Explain that one to me.

God should not have created a worldwide pandemic that has murdered millions of loved ones.

It's for these reasons I don't believe in a God, but I don't care too much if someone does. I just don't see it logical- but I'm more agnostic about it in general, I don't care if it does (God may exist, He may not, either way I don't mind)

There is no sin to LL for me, it's just playing the cards you are dealt with- a surgery to increase height exists- you go in willingly with your own money and knowing the possible complications (death too) and pain- fully consensual and thus it's fair game and absolutely fine to me.

its probably more worth thinkin' bout whether hiding this from ur spouse is correct

especially when your unmarried should u tell your spouse later in life? will she marry you thinkin' your this tall naturally? if you hide it will it destroy her if she finds out later? if she doesnt find out is it fair that she doesnt know? if shes done a major rhinoplasty and chin surgery and she never told u how would you feel?

God created Ilizarov and gave him this wonderful idea of healing others. I believe God also created those wonderful orthopedic surgeons like Paley and others. God doesn't want you to suffer, not everybody can see psychological scars of being short, but those doctors can.

As a materialist I don't know much about religious believe etc but if I was believing in fate and all that I would think to myself that this is my purpose, it's what I was set out to do.

God knows your mental torment. Do you think he will judge you for trying to overcome it and live a better life with more happiness?

you are right. I was thinking that too earlier today.

Besides, plastic surgery isn't going to turn a 4 into a 9, but it can turn a 7 into a 9!

If you do it properly (not overlengthening, not too fast, doing the stretching exercises, not smoking during the process), it's a body improvement, so there is no sin here, maybe you can get rewarded for improving your body.

Note that God loves people who share their experiences here.  :)

Note: at this moment I'm only a "pretender", I want to know more about this interesting procedure. Hopping to become 185 cm (6'1'') from 174 cm (5'8 ½''), but it is too expensive.
My sitting height is 92½ - 94 cm (36''½ 37''), my length of legs is 81 cm (32'') and my armspan is 180 cm (70'' 7/8).

I think someone claimed here once that leg lengthening is a sin if you follow Islam in the same way that tattoos are because it's considered permanently altering the body given to you by God.

I dont know how true that is, but I wouldn't be surprised if some religions are against it since plenty of non- religious people think those who do it are insane

of course if she went from 7 to 9 you wouldnt mind but what if she went from 4 to 7?

look up plastic surgery make overs on google image search

dont get me wrong, Im all for people improving their physical appearance to feel better and become better humans

but its important to go to the other side and see what this procedure would mean to other people from their perspective when they marry you

I onyl brought this up because op started the topic of "sin" lol. of course no marraige is perfect and this would be 100x better than cheating on your partner. but still

Is getting braces for crooked teeth a sin? After all, if you have crooked teeth but they function by chewing food, why fix something that is t broken?

These topics are getting weirder.
