Some more information about Short and Male (at least what I know).
The first website about heightism was
www.shortsupport.org (no longer operational). It was run until 2011 by Steven Goldsmith (5'2" , the middle guy in the elevator shot of the 3 NOSSA members
here). shortsupport.org was a rather bland website, but became the first website to address heightism and be a helpful resource for shorter people. It did have a section on cosmetic leg lengthening with the external fixator, the decade (2000-2009) when CLL was relatively new. This CLL section drew a lot of interest and traffic, not just shorter people, but also taller adults, especially those in the below average to average range.
After shortsupport.org went down, Joe Mangano (5'4" guy in the documentary) started a new website:
www.supportfortheshort.org . It was a more "in your face" and "unconventional" approach to fighting heightism. Joe is also opposed to CLL, so you won't find anything helpful on CLL there. The last time it was updated was in early 2020, so I'm not sure if it's still running anymore.
supportfortheshort.org has some information on the cast of Short and Male, mostly summarized in this webpage:
www.supportfortheshort.org/nossa-files.htmlNOSSA (National Organization for Short Statured Adults) was founded in 2005 and got some publicity from Short and Male, and may have exceeded 50 members at it's peak. But interest declined and by 2011 it was effectively dead, and officially dissolved in 2013. Joe Mangano sure has a grudge against the former president of NOSSA, Matt Campisi, as Joe exposes Matt's corrupt and criminal history. Also, Matt Campisi's real height is 5'5" (not 5'6" as stated in the film) - people lie about their height on dating sites and also on the media.
Short and Male also did produce a few somewhat popular catch phrases, like "I'm short, horny, and pissed" and "A short guy who's sensitive is in deep sh*t". Also, the guy who 'grew' from 4'11.5" to 5'2" with CLL in 2005 is Akash Shukla. He eventually married a 5'0" Indian woman in 2017 (see my post a few posts up for more details). I do feel one reason the NOSSA guys messed up was that they ignored the short women. There is a lot of interest among women fighting heightism, as women are 4 to 5 inches shorter on average than men. Short women may not experience dating discrimination as bad, but definitely face height discrimination in the job market more severely. It's also the best chance for short men to find a date with short women. But the NOSSA guys only focused on short men with a chauvinist attitude and literally excluded all short women.
I'm also curious what happened to the young child Graham who was getting HGH shots. He would be an adult by now, but I cannot find any information on him.
