« on: October 27, 2019, 05:49:51 AM »

I read a study from 1997 claiming that muscle lengthening increased muscle growth but haven’t found any other studies so just wanna know if anyone else knows anything about this or has there own experience thanks.

In my experience, yes.  My calf muscles are very large compared to the rest of by body, and that wasn't the case before LL.

Hi Samb

Enlarged calf muscle is a very common symptom after tibia lengthening.  However, most of patients complain about enlarged muscle, because it normally doesn't look that good, considering your thigh may not be as big as your calf.  In addition, although calf muscles become bigger, they are not really strong muscle.  You don't expect gaining strength from them.  It is somewhat strange.  There is no obvious reason or prevention.

Of course, you will lose muscle strength, flexibility, endurance, agility...  You can recover them but it will take time.

My posterior calf muscles are so strong I can't believe it.  But the front calf muscles (tibialis anterior) are weak and tire easily.

wats the point i mean is it that bad to have bigger calves after having a bigger bone? i mean the body does everything to balance out. smaller and thinner calves on the lengthened bone would make someone look like a stilt freak.

It is better to have the bigger muscles on the bigger bones.  Not just cosmetically, but you need the bigger muscles because longer legs are much harder to move around.
