Paley's Greed/Price Hiking
« on: May 01, 2020, 03:14:17 AM »

hi all,

To the bots that will attack me: (doctors marketing team), this isn't for you this is for the community.

Dror Paley in my opinion is morally corrupt. This man is capitalizing on the psychological torment of height neurosis. The fact that his prices begin minimum over 100k, not including a 10k security deposit, living accommodations, and everything else === +130k. This man is horrible. He continues to raise his prices only for the top 1% while touting this marketing campaign of "lengthen with me or be a cripple". He is out there to make money not improve lives...his skills are undeniable and if you're good at something never do it for free, HOWEVER, Nuvasive sets the prices and they are not setting them this high to other doctors/hospitals. Even if they sell it to St.Mary's at a premium, they have the ability to negotiate and of course they don't. I sent Paley an email today that was filled with valid points and concerns about the ethics of his prices. He always responds to emails of that nature and this time he didn't. It is because no matter what bull**** they try to come up with the bottom line is they want you to get taller by ripping your pockets dry into a procedure that is incredibly traumatic.

My main beef with all of these doctors is they claim to give a   about the well being of their patients but they actually don't at all. When you are youngest you are most healthy to have this surgery done. Unless you are of the top % with willing parents or an entrepreneur like Movie this isn't happening for you without some serious blood sweat and tears, and even then you still could come short. This is disgusting we all need to boycott him and force the cost down.

Everyone is going to call me crazy and crap all over this but I can't hold my damn tongue anymore. I don't know how that man lives with himself if he knew the thousands of people that don't have the confidence love and completeness in their lives because they can't afford something designed to improve lives because he's so god damn disgustingly greedy

And another thing/.....

If you haven't noticed all of these doctors hike their price up each year.. Paley (duh), Dr. M, and even Dr. G went up about USD 5k. This needs to stop.

Yeah honestly. These are ridiculous prices especially because of the COVID-19 recession and because young people are really disadvantaged in making money nowadays. We shouldn't have to be supreme entrepreneurs in order to afford CLL. I'm trying to get it legalized and regulated in my country (Taiwan, which has already defeated COVID and has world #1 ranked healthcare), it would be great if I could do it here on insurance, but it's not looking likely because they don't gaf about procedures considered cosmetic. Right now all the Stryde doctors are unaffordable to me, I'm not good at making money, and that's really rough not knowing when I will even be able to do LL. I know I'm not the only young person with that problem, not everyone here has an awesome job or is a successful entrepreneur. What exactly can we do about it though? I don't think the docs will lower the prices just because we say we want lower prices.

I am not saying this should be your plan but I know Vietnam costs are like under 5k USD.

The bilaterial femur is still listed under $100k though not by much, and btw, the $10k security deposit is included.  Can attest to this personally, as I was a patient there.

I sent Paley an email today that was filled with valid points and concerns about the ethics of his prices. He always responds to emails of that nature and this time he didn't.

I am honestly impressed you got a reply in the first place, because the man is very busy and does not respond to many emails he gets, regardless of topic.

Stryde? I don't trust anything that isn't Stryde. 5K USD LL is probably with an inferior device.

this is a cosmetic surgery.

even if height something that makes you extermely unhappy there are many people who will do this to just enhance their lives a little bit. so many who do this are already happy and just want to solve one thing in their heads.

look around. so many people are doing this being average height just to become taller. Some are older, have created families and made money but just want to do this as a dream to fulfil. How can Paley distinguish between someone who is doing this out of severe mental distress and some one who is doing just for an additional "boost"?

by your logic, should paley stop doing CLL to treat other patients with disabilities faster?

also if you visit Paley centre you will see that CLL is a small practice for them

Why does it matter whether someone is doing it out of severe mental distress or just wanting a boost? His original point is that Paley's prices are extremely expensive, almost no Gen Z person can make that much money within the best prime age range to do the surgery. Many of the other doctors are also greedily raising their prices but Paley's pricing is definitely the most ridiculous. If someone wants this surgery, whatever their reasons, they shouldn't have to be in the top percent of rich families or income in order to get it. It's already a known phenomenon that short people make less money too.

My rationale is that a doctor can charge whatever he wants for a cosmetic procedure. This procedure isn't medically necessary at all, so suck it up and pay it price if you want to do it. You can't put a gun to a doctor's head and force them to do your surgery at your own price. There's always India.

i mean there's a lot of other surgeons that also offer stryde at a lower price. (by a lot i mean two, Giotikas and Dr. M). Paley is pioneer in this field so idk why people thing they feel entitled to his skillset at a price that they can afford during a time in their life that they find suiting.

I personally would not go to him because of the price. Don't get me wrong, he is highly skilled, but his price definitely factors in his reputation. youre paying for the peace of mind that Paley is doing your surgery. People will pay a lot of money for that, especially with a surgery as uncommon as this.

Go to Dr. M or Giotikas. I personally will be going to Giotikas. This year!!😬😬😬 if things go well 🤞🤞. God Willing 🙏

and as far people gettting LL to go from average to tall. Bruh ur will very very likely not even pass someoneon on the street who has done LL, ever in your life.

There is much to be worried about in the Year of Our Lord, 2020. Average height people getting LL to become above average is not one of them.

Most of the money does not go to him.  The hospital, nurses, anesthesiologist, malpractice insurance company, etc. are all taking a big cut of that, especially the annual price increases.  He is only making a few thousand more per surgery than the lower-cost American doctors.

It's to be expected when he is more skilled and has a better reputation.  Compare that to the difference in salaires between the top and bottom lawyers.  :o

As the demand increases a lot of doctors are going to be increasing their prices as well. Combined with how few orthopedic surgeons can see a cosmetic patient through the entire thing safely, CLL is probably not going to trend downwards in expense.

I figure if I ever had the kind of money to go to Paley, I'd probably go back to Dr Parihar and use the extra cash to stay in one of those fancy Mumbai hotels like The Oberoi for the duration of my stay lol.

Hi dreamingtall

I see your pain.  However, you also need to understand other aspects.  Ru actually pointed out many important parts about CLL and Paley.  Actually, CLL is a small part of Paley's institute.  I was so surprised to see so many other patients with so many different reasons.  Patients for CLL are not the major for his team.

That being said, he is trying to balance between real patients who need surgeries to correct all sort of physical problems and patients who want to get CLL.  One efficient way to balance this is the price.  Even with current high price, there are so many people who want to come to his institute for CLL.  As you may know, you need to reserve your date way before and wait for a while, even if you have money now.  So why does he really need to lower the price to offer CLL?  Plus, he is getting old and can't do the many surgeries everyday, although he is still incredibly active on the practice and other health/research related activities.

Anyway, it is not only Paley whose price is so expensive.  Most of american doctors and Dr. Lee in Korea ask similar price for CLL, although Dr. M and Dr. D offer CLL at a little lower price.  You just need to find a doctor whose price is affordable for you.  For example, Dr. Giotikas in Greece could be a choice.  Or, you can choose LON for the lower price.  It is up to you.

So it is pointless to criticize (pretty much wrongly) Dr. Paley about his high price.  Find the best solution for you and work for it!

Good luck!
