CLL Vets - Questions about Nail Removal
« on: January 18, 2020, 06:17:44 PM »

Greetings CLL Warriors, Family, and Friends,

I am going to arrange my nail removal with Dr. Mahboubian. I will likely coordinate a surgery date that is in May, which is 1 year and 5 months, post CLL operation.   I am wondering if any of our CLL vets could chime into this post and direct me in a good 4-month pre-op physical regiment for this procedure.  Additionally, based on experience, how soon did you get back to working out your legs again? Normal walking? and over-all how much of a setback (if any) was the Nail Removal Surgery.

I will update my diary on how everything goes soon.  Standing by for your feedback.

Thank you,

That one was not a big deal at all.  I don't think you need to do anything to prepare for it, and you'll be back to where you are now within a few weeks of the surgery.

Love that! Thank you, MDOW.

IFS do you know how much you'll be shelling out of pocket for that? I'm not looking forward to that time lol financially, but in terms of recovery and moving on already from foreign objects in my body, heck yes!

Here's another one, how do they remove the nail?

From the buttocks or from the knees? Or does it depend on the nail?

Hi Movie,

I'm not 100% sure but I believe that most of it will be covered by insurance.  W/o Insurance it runs about $13,000.

They use the same areas as when they went in to insert nail; so the side of the hip/buttocks, area and they will unscrew the nail within the same screw holes. I feel like Frankenstein, talking about this.   ;D :P
